Website Privacy Settings

Updated this week

Not everyone who hears about your event needs to find your website. Joy lets you decide exactly who can access your site, which pages are password-protected, and how visible your event is to the outside world. This article covers everything you need to lock it down the way you want.

When you set a page to Private, only guests you've shared the event password with can access it.

Setting Page Visibility

  • From your Event Dashboard, hover over Website, click the arrow, and select Manage Pages.

  • Click Modify All next to the Pages section to set visibility for your entire site at once.

    • Select Private to require guests to enter your event password before viewing any page.

    • Select Public to make all pages visible without a password.

    • Select Hidden to control which pages appear on your site.

  • To set visibility for a single page, click the Visibility button next to that page and select your preference.

Tip: To test your privacy settings, open your site in an incognito browser window. If you use the same browser where you built your site, Joy will recognize you as the owner and won't prompt for a password.

Setting Your Event Password

  • Scroll down to the Event Password field and click Edit.

  • Type your new password in the field.

  • Click Save.

Note: Passwords must be at least 3 characters. The only symbols allowed are !, &, and +. Passwords are not case-sensitive.

Configuring Search Privacy

  • Scroll down to the Search Privacy section.

    • Toggle Allow guests to search for my event on Joy on to let guests find your site at withjoy.com/find by searching your names and through the app. Toggle it off to keep your event out of Joy's search entirely.

    • Toggle Allow my event to be found on Google, etc. on to make your site eligible to appear in search engine results. Toggle it off to keep your event off Google. Enabling this does not guarantee your site will be indexed and it can take anywhere from a week to a month for a site to be indexed and start showing in a search.

Once your settings are saved, your site is visible to exactly the people you choose and no one else.
