All About Guest Tags

Not every guest needs the same thing. Some are coming to every event on your schedule, some are joining for just one night, some need a printed invitation while others are digital-only. Guest tags let you organize your list into groups that reflect how you're actually thinking about your event, so you can filter, sort, and take action on exactly the right people at the right time.

From your Event Dashboard, click Guest List.

Assign Tags to Guests

  • Select one or more guests using the checkboxes on the left.

  • Click Assign Tags in the Guest List toolbar.

  • Select one or more tags from the Active Tags or All Tags list. A checkmark confirms each selection.

  • Click Done.

Note: The Assign Tags button will appear grayed out until at least one guest is selected. Tags can also be added when uploading guests via spreadsheet. Learn more.

Create Your Own Tags

Joy includes a set of default tags to get you started. If you need something more specific, you can create your own from two places.

From the Assign Tags panel:

  • Click Add / Edit Guest Tags at the bottom of the panel.

  • Type a name in the text field and click Add.

Remove a Tag

  • Hover over the tag on the guest in the guest list.

  • Click the X that appears on the tag.

Search by Tag

  • Click any tag directly in the guest list. It will appear in the search bar at the top, and your list will filter to show only guests with that tag,

Tip: Tags power two of Joy's most useful features. You can use them to control which guests see a specific event on your schedule, and which guests are asked particular RSVP questions. Learn more in Using the Private Events Feature and Asking RSVP Questions to Specific Guests.
