Changing your Joy URL after your custom domain is already connected can leave your domain pointing to the wrong place, which means guests trying to visit your site through that domain won't get there. The good news is that updating the connection only takes a few minutes, and your site will be back on track.
The steps below depend on where you purchased your domain. Follow the section that applies to you.
If You Purchased Your Domain Through Joy (via GoDaddy)
Log in to your account here.
The login might be different from your Joy login
Click the My Products tab.
Find your domain and click DNS, then select Forwarding.
Click the pencil icon.
In the forwarding field, replace your old Joy URL with your new one.
Use the full URL format when entering your new address, for example "https://withjoy.com/yournewurl". Incorrect formatting can cause redirect errors.
Click Save.
If You Purchased Your Domain Somewhere Else
Log in to your domain registrar, the service where you originally purchased your domain, such as Namecheap, Google Domains, or Squarespace. Look for a Forwarding or Domain Forwarding option under your DNS settings. Replace your old Joy URL with your new one and save.
Note: Forwarding should be set to "Permanent (301)" with masking turned off. If you're unsure where to find these settings, your registrar's support team can point you in the right direction.
If Your Domain Still Isn't Working
DNS changes can take a few minutes to take effect, and occasionally up to 24 hours. While you wait, a couple of things are worth checking:
Try an incognito window. Your browser may be loading a cached version of the old URL. An incognito tab forces a fresh load.
Check your forwarding type. Make sure it's set to "Permanent (301)" with masking turned off. Any other configuration can cause redirect issues.
