Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?
We had just returned from a work trip in Tasmania and we had planned to visit and stay the night in the Hunter Valley, our local wine region. Pat and I drove up in the morning to visit some of the wineries before checking into our accommodation. All was normal and nothing seemed out of place because we were doing the same things we usually did when we visit Hunter Valley. Patrick said he wanted to visit a new vineyard, called Hanging Tree Wines. We had our wine tasting, but when we finished, we decided to have a quick walk around the front garden before getting back in the car (again, nothing out of the norm). As we were walking towards the pond I looked to my left and saw a picnic setup. My reaction was, “Oh looks like someone is going to have a picnic” funny enough, I didn’t think that was for us until Patrick had to tell me. We sat down and had our beautiful picnic lunch with a bottle of champagne. Right after that, Patrick got down on one knee and popped the question! I think I was in a bit of shock, I definitely didn’t expect that to happen, it was a total surprise. Patrick had designed a beautiful rose gold engagement ring that ended up being a perfect fit!
What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
Picking the location of the wedding. Patrick and I are having a destination wedding in Hawaii. Patrick’s family lives in Australia and my family lives on the East Coast of the United States. We thought it would be fair for everyone to have to travel the same distance, plus they can get a holiday out of it!
How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
So far I haven’t come across anything that has really stressed me out. I’m finding I am a bit too organized, haha!
What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?
I like that the guests can download an app if they want too and keep up to date with everything.
What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?
Take the time to set everything up properly. Your guests will be happy that all information they need, is easily accessible!
