Frequently Asked Questions

We recommend sending your invitations 6-8 weeks before your wedding day. This gives your guests enough time to make plans — but not so much that they put off planning until later!

Paperless wedding invitations are becoming increasingly popular with couples, and Joy makes the online RSVP process easy for everyone. In fact, your guests will probably appreciate the convenience of being able to complete their RSVP online within minutes! If you’re worried your guests won’t understand, or are less tech-savvy, you can always use a mix digital and paper invites.

Absolutely. Include the link to your wedding website on your printed RSVP card and configure Joy's guest list to allow any guest to add their own +1s when they RSVP online.

Yes. Simply enable "Strict Name Matching Required" in Joy's guest list settings and if a guest's name does not match what is in the guest list, they will not be able to RSVP.

Yes! You can easily turn off the RSVP feature to remove it from your wedding website.

Currently our partners only ship to the US and Canada, but we hope to ship worldwide in the near future!

Giving guests the option to RSVP online or via can be a nice gesture. Some guests may certainly appreciate the option to RSVP by returning a paper card. However, more and more couples are choosing to include online RSVP instructions on their wedding invitations instead of sending RSVP cards. Which option is right for you? We’d say it definitely depends on your specific guest list and how comfortable your most of your invitees will be with sending their response electronically.

To be safe, you should consider buying 10-25 extra wedding invites, depending on how invitations are sold at your preferred printer. For example, if the company you choose sells prints in quantities of 25 and you have a guest list of 150, you should order 175. If the company sells in quantities of 5-10, and you’re having an intimate wedding of around 50 guests, 60 invitations should be more than enough.

Traditionally, the top line of your wedding invitations is for whoever is hosting—or paying for—the wedding. If the groom’s parents are the hosts, or both families are hosting together, their names should be included. Remember that you’re not always bound by tradition, though! There are plenty of creative ways to include the names that are important to you. Check out or guides to both modern and traditional wedding invitation wording for more info.

It really varies! Bridal showers are typically held three months to three weeks before the wedding date, while wedding invites should be sent 6-8 weeks before the big day. Given the overlap in these potential timelines, it’s common for bridal showers to occur both before and after formal invitations are sent. It's also common for bridal shower invitations to go out well before invites.

While it may seem odd to invite people to your bridal shower before they have been officially invited to the wedding, sending save the date cards (or e-cards!) can make it less awkward. That way your guests will already know the wedding date and that a formal invitation will be on the arriving a few weeks before that.
