Joy Proposal Story: Kayla & Natalie

Joy Proposal Story: Kayla & Natalie

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

It was the corniest thing. She bought the ring about a month before our anniversary trip up to the North Shore of Lake Superior. She originally was planning to propose then, but instead was so eager to put a ring on it that she ended up proposing the night she had the ring. We were in our bedroom getting ready for bed. She opened up Spotify and turned on “What Dreams Are Made Of” by Hilary Duff (cuz we’re both dorks who loved the Lizzie McGuire Movie growing up) and started singing while going down on one knee. Literally the cutest, sweetest thing.

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Making our invitations and seeing so many friends we haven’t had the chance to spend time with in forever!

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

We actually haven’t really had a ton of pressure! We started planning right away last Fall, about 14 months before our wedding date. Things have been going really smooth! Kayla’s good at planning and hosting parties, so this was a no-brainer.

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

We tested out about four sites before sticking with Joy! The main things we wanted in a website were affordability, a detailed but simple RSVP tool, customization, and high-resolution photo sharing. The other sites we tried all had the first three but none of them could allow high-res photo uploads and made our photographs look so botched. The design is much sleeker with Joy over other sites and I love the added touch of having the photos change as you scroll with the layout on a desktop! The app is also a nice feature and allows for communication with guests on our photos, guestbook, etc. Joy is a really good website!

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Have a desktop or laptop handy. Not all of the editing features are available on mobile quite yet!

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

You get what you put into it. We are putting nothing but joy, happiness, and enjoyable moments into our wedding day. That is also what we will have forever!
