Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?
Kevin proposed on the Royal Caribbean, Freedom of the Seas cruise ship just before we left the dock! Kevin’s proposal was a total surprise for me. He had been planning it for months. In fact, he told his parents, coworkers, children, and Pastor that he was going to propose. I thought that we were making a cruise video for our family. Little did I know, Kevin asked another passenger to record us when he proposed. So, once the passenger began recording, Kevin turned to me and told me that the past year had been amazing. I unknowingly nodded in agreement. He continued by saying, “You’ve changed my life in so many ways”. I just stood there staring at him in amazement as he got down on bended knee and pulled a ring out of his pocket and said, “With that, babe will you marry me?” At this point, I’m still staring at him. I almost wanted to look around to make sure that he was talking to me! All that I could say was, “Oh my God! Oh my God, Baby” Then he asked again, “Babe, will you say yes?” The enormity of the moment took over me, then I screamed, “Yes!” Other passengers started clapping as Kevin and I hugged. It was a surreal experience for me because, at my age, I doubted that this would ever happen to me!
What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
Spending time with my mom and girlfriends. I love seeing their joy and excitement as we plan my wedding!
How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
My girlfriends and mom keep me grounded and constantly reassure me that everything is going to be alright.
