Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?
We went on a family trip to Hawaii, he and I flew in a day earlier than everyone else to enjoy some more time on the island. I had a feeling he was going to propose so I bought a nice new dress and shoes and had my hair and makeup done! Great minds think alike, he bought a new suit. He took me to a restaurant in an incredibly fancy hotel. After we’d finished our food, I told him how happy I was to be with him and he took that opportunity to make his move. Even though he had so much time to prepare his speech, he got nervous and faltered, forgetting to even get on one knee! Instead of the elaborate speech he’d planned, his words stumbled out, saying I made him incredibly happy too, and he pulled out the ring. He’d bought a fantastic box that had a light in it to really showcase the gorgeous gems. The drink I’d had was more powerful than I thought so I was a bit tipsy and instantly distracted by this, exclaiming, “It lights up!” He smiled and said, “It does light up!” then continued by asking if I’d like to continue making him happy by marrying him. I had a big smile on my face since my little interruption and it took me a second to consider if I wanted to tease him or not. Like him, even though I’d had so much time to prepare to say yes, I was really nervous too. It only took a few seconds for me to accept his proposal, excitedly kiss him, and put on my gorgeous ring!

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
Mine has been finding the dress! We have a small budget so I wasn’t expecting to find something I truly loved. I was fine with that since my bigger priority was making sure my guests enjoy themselves. It was wonderful to find the perfect dress and know I will look the best I possibly can. His was probably riding the golf courts around our venue.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
We bicker, throw in the towel, then pick up where we left off because we don’t have it in us to really stop. We do try to keep it as relaxed as possible. When you try planning a wedding with someone you’ll realize just how wrong you were about what you thought their opinions would be!
What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?
