How did the two of you meet?
We both played collegiate basketball at the same University. We would run into each other when practices were exchanging or when each team was in the weight room, training room, track, or anything else together. We would run into each other several times a day, it was bound to happen!

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?
Growing up my family and I would go camping and hiking at a lake that not too many people know about. Turns out, Austin and his family grew up only a couple miles from that lake. He invited my family and his family to go hiking and camping. I thought it was the greatest idea because we haven’t been able to do it for years. I thought he was just trying to bring back the tradition our family had been doing for 18+ years. On our way back down from hiking, Austin gave my dad the cue to pull over. Austin grabbed my hand and pulled me to a ledge of the road where you could see the beautiful sky, lake, and trees, and asked me to be his forever. The best part is that my hands were so swollen from hiking that morning that the ring didn’t even fit! All of the pictures after he proposed were us posing and the ring was on my first knuckle. Even though it was silly and embarrassing, it couldn’t have been more beautiful and perfect!
What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
Realizing that we get to basically throw a party with everyone that has been there for us and supported us. Plus, gifts aren’t too bad either!
How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
Thankfully, Austin proposed at the most perfect time. We have over a year to plan, so we have plenty of time! There is no need to stress, everything will work out the way it is supposed to.

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?
The fact that guests can get to know a little more about the couple. A great feature is that guests can also share photos/memories and everything ever needed through Joy.

Look at the “help” link, use the chat, and review the sample profile to help build your own! It took me less than a day to create ours! So user-friendly:)

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?
Austin and I are so happy together, every day is so much fun. We have a blast spending time together just laying in bed playing “would you rather”, taking our dog to the park, or even just taking a drive. I will never get sick of his face, his jokes, or who he is. We could get married in a courthouse with just us two and things would be the same. We just want to be able to celebrate with our friends and family and be able to see some of the most inspirational, life-changing people all in one room. I look at my parents who have been married for 27 years and I have never seen them have a bad day. They are so happy, even when times are rough. Although weddings are so much fun and will be remembered forever, it’s the love, passion, and happiness the couple shares that makes joy last.
