Joy Proposal Story: Tanner & Tracy

by Cali Pitchel

How did the two of you meet?

We met our sophomore year of high school in a cooking class.

How long have you been together?

We’ve been together for 14+ years!
“There is so much anticipation and anxiety surrounding one day, but the reality of life that follows that day, is what truly brings you the most joy.”

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

Tanner proposed on his birthday at his moms house. It was simple and sweet, exactly how I would want it! The best part was that he said, “Tracy I know I’ve made you wait a LONG time and for this, I’m sorry. I love you. Will you marry me?”

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

I would say choosing our ceremony venue, it holds a lot of meaning to us. Our ceremony is being held at his parent’s acreage under the pergola that his dad had built for their 25th wedding anniversary. Tanner’s dad passed away three years ago and sadly he won’t be able to witness us finally tie the knot after all these years.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

Time! We gave ourselves plenty of time to get organized and I am currently on maternity leave with our first little girl (she’s our engagement baby)! I have been able to really relax and enjoy every minute of planning for our special day.

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

It is so user friendly! I also love how it organizes your RSVP’s, so handy!

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Share the link with your bridal party first. That way they can inspect it before you allow the rest of your guests to see it!

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

To be honest when I hear this, I am reminded of my delivery with our little girl. There is so much anticipation and anxiety surrounding one day, but the reality of life that follows that day, is what truly brings you the most joy. Tanner and I love all the life we live, even though it isn’t always picture perfect. We have shared in so much of each others lives that the day when we finally say “I do” will be special, but in the grand scheme of things will be just another day in the amazing life we have shared together.
