Joy Proposal Story: Valerie & Brian

by Kelsey Vickers

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

The proposal happened on our 30th birthday bash! (Our birthdays are a week apart). We had a “Say Goodbye to our Roaring 20’s” themed party. All of our friends and family were there in their 20’s attire. For months, I was consumed with planning this party and when a projector and projector screen started to get set up, it was a total surprise! I still had no idea what was going to happen next when it started. My friends and family even asked if I thought a proposal was going to happen that night and I just thought, “NO!” After the slideshow, I announced the best-dressed male and female of the party. As I went to my purse to get the gift cards after the announcement, Brian grabbed the mic from me and went into his proposal. I still couldn’t grasp what was happening until he finally got down on one knee and asked if I would marry him. I was standing there in complete shock. When I finally came to realize that this was actually happening I, of course, said, “Yes!” The room erupted in cheers and we got mobbed by our closest family and friends. It was the best birthday present ever!
