Joy Proposal Story: Victoria & Kyle

Joy Proposal Story: Victoria & Kyle

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

Kyle and I got engaged on a rainy Cinco De Mayo day. After work, Kyle’s parents invited us over. We were headed there while a thunderstorm was going on outside, it had been pouring all day! So, I asked Kyle if he wanted to head back and reschedule with his parents. Kyle assured me that we’d be okay and suggested a shortcut. I noticed he was taking a shortcut that we’ve used in the past. You have to drive through what we call “the loops” because you drive down a winding, circling road. On that road are beautiful homes and it eventually leads to a private park on the beach! As Kyle pulled up to the park, almost instantly, the rain began to subside. (Talk about perfect timing!) I asked him why we were stopping and he said, “I figured we’d stop by the park for Joey. Plus, it stopped raining.” Joey is my son, he has autism and he loves going to the park! Kyle takes him all the time so I didn’t really think anything of it.

We ended up walking closer to the beach under a gazebo. I was looking out at the ocean when Kyle just stopped talking. I turned around and he was down on one knee! He said he loved me and Joey so much that he couldn’t see his life without us and asked me to marry him. I did not see that coming! I actually said “Oh no!” and took 3 quick steps back toward the beach. He laughed because he knows I am a nervous wreck! I ran towards him and said, “Oh my gosh, are you sure?!” He smiled and I said, “Yes!” We then drove to his parent’s house where I found out that they were in on the whole thing! They greeted us with champagne and sent us on to have a great night. Kyle had reservations at The Melting Pot where we had our first date. His parents were babysitting for us so that we could celebrate!
