A wedding gift list is a personalised wishlist that helps guests pick out presents you’ll truly love as you start your life together. With Joy, you can set up a free wedding gift list in minutes. Add gifts from Joy’s shop or any shop online, from kitchen must-haves to furniture, and keep everything in one easy-to-share link for friends and family.

Prefer cash to traditional gifts? Create zero-fee cash funds for your honeymoon, house deposit, or anything else you’re saving for, and let guests chip in directly. You can mix physical gifts, cash funds, and charity donations in one wedding list, then enjoy a 20% completion discount on eligible items left after the big day.

Trusted by millions of couples, Joy makes it easy to build, manage, and share your wedding gift list, track presents as they arrive, and send thank you notes without any fuss.

We’ve teamed up with your favourite cash-sharing services like Venmo, PayPal and Cash App, so guests can easily send money to couples—without any card processing fees or hidden charges.

It all depends on what you need or want for your wedding or gift list. For example, if you and your partner have just moved in together or bought a new home, your wish list might include a stand mixer, crockery, or kitchen gadgets. If you’d rather receive cash gifts so you can choose exactly what to buy, you can set up a cash fund and link it to a goal, like a romantic honeymoon or a deposit on your dream home. Whatever you prefer, remember to briefly explain your choices in a note or on your wedding website.

It’s best to start your gift list any time from when you begin planning your wedding up to around 4 months before the big day. You’ll probably want to have your list ready before sending out invitations, as guests will be keen to know by then.

When setting up your wedding gift list, it’s a good idea to give your guests lots of choice—so aim to add more gifts than you have guests. For example, if you’re inviting 90 people, try to include at least 100 items on your list. You can create gift lists with different brands like Amazon, Bed Bath & Beyond, Crate & Barrel, and Williams-Sonoma, then sync them all to your Joy registry to make shopping a breeze for your guests.

For family and friends who are more familiar with traditional gift lists, it helps to add a note explaining what their cash gift will be used for, and to let them know how grateful you are for anything they choose to give.

Not at all! In fact, in many places outside the US, it’s quite common (and sometimes expected) to give money instead of traditional gifts. In recent years, cash gifting has become increasingly popular in the US too, as couples look to create memories rather than collect more things—helped along by cash registry platforms like Joy and Honeyfund. Have a look at our article Cash Wedding Registries: An Introductory Guide for tips on how to handle cash requests on your wedding website.

It’s always wise to give your loved ones plenty of gift ideas. Some wedding guests might not feel comfortable giving money, so it’s a good shout to include a wedding gift registry as well.

Yes! Joy lets you keep track of who’s given a gift and send guests personalised messages.

Putting together a wedding gift list can feel a bit overwhelming, especially when you’re already deep in wedding planning and balancing a million other things. But don’t worry! Creating your list with Joy is refreshingly easy. Once you’ve signed up, just pop over to our shop and start adding gifts.
You can also include presents from your favourite shops or even copy any lists you’ve made elsewhere. Plus, you can add gifts from your friends’ registries too, making everything even more convenient and personal.

There’s no need to make your own wedding gift list from scratch. Joy gives you a handy Registry Checklist, so you won’t forget any of the things you’ll want for this next chapter. Of course, what you need will depend on your lifestyle and preferences. If you’re moving in together for the first time, your list might look quite different to a couple planning to travel the world.
A great way to kick things off is by picking out the essentials for your new life together—think kitchen gadgets, home must-haves, and linens. Be sure to include a range of items at different price points, so all your guests can find something that suits their budget. You might also want to add cash funds for future plans, or charitable donations to give your registry extra meaning. Experiences are another brilliant addition, helping you create memories that last a lifetime. In the end, your registry should reflect what matters to you, making it easy for your loved ones to support you in all sorts of ways as you start this new adventure. By curating a varied selection of gifts, you’ll give your guests plenty of choice, making gift-giving enjoyable for everyone.

There’s no set number of gifts you need to include on your wedding registry, but it’s usually wise to have more items than guests. This way, your registry offers a good mix of choices to suit different tastes and budgets. To help you find the right number, Joy offers a handy Registry Calculator. Just pop in your guest count, and the tool will suggest how many gifts to add, making sure you’ve got a nice balance across all price ranges. This makes it easier for your guests to choose something they’ll enjoy giving, and helps you build a registry that truly fits your needs and wishes. Whether you’re after home essentials, cash funds, or unforgettable experiences, a varied selection means your registry will feel personal to you.
Plus, don’t forget our 20% Registry Completion Discount on anything left in your registry after your big day. It’s a great excuse to add those must-haves and treat yourselves later at a lower price.

You can start your registry whenever you fancy, but we recommend setting up your wedding registry around 8–9 months before your big day. This gives you plenty of time to carefully choose items that fit your lifestyle and tastes. Plus, getting started early means your guests have loads of time to browse and pick out the perfect gifts, making shopping a breeze for everyone. It’s best to finalise your registry before sending out any shower or wedding invitations, so your guests can plan and buy their gifts in good time. By kicking off your registry well ahead of time, you’ll avoid any last-minute stress and make sure your list truly reflects what you both want as you start this brilliant new chapter together.

There are plenty of reasons why Joy is one of the top choices for wedding registries. Our platform offers a complete and easy-to-use experience, giving couples and their guests an all-in-one solution designed to make the whole process simpler and more enjoyable. With a wide range of products from leading brands in the Joy Shop, couples can easily find items that suit their style and preferences. Plus, you can add gifts from other shops too, so you get exactly what you’re after. Joy also comes with great perks for couples, including free delivery on all orders over $45, easy returns, and a generous 20% Registry Completion Discount. Our zero-fee cash funds mean you can receive contributions towards your future plans without any extra charges. You can even add charitable donations for a personal touch, supporting causes that matter to you.
On top of that, Joy offers a range of gifting options like gift cards, honeymoon funds, and experiences, so you can build a registry that’s truly you. With its smooth interface and all-in-one features, Joy makes the registry process enjoyable, straightforward, and memorable for you and your loved ones.

Well, there’s really no difference between a bridal registry and a wedding registry. It’s just a question of wording. Traditionally, women were more likely to set up the registries, which is why the name was linked to the bride. But these days, we know a wedding is a team effort, and it’s normal for both partners to build their registries together – and often, the labels 'groom' and 'bride' don’t even apply.

Creating a wedding gift list brings plenty of benefits for both couples and their guests. While it’s true that friends and family may want to buy gifts whether or not a list exists, having one means couples receive items, experiences, or cash fund contributions that actually suit their needs and tastes. A wedding gift list acts as a handy guide for guests, pointing them towards gifts the couple will truly appreciate and use.
Plus, by setting up a list, couples can avoid getting duplicate or not-so-useful gifts, making sure every present helps build their future together. A wedding gift list also lets couples show off their personalities and dreams, whether that’s through choosing homeware, planning experiences, or supporting good causes. In the end, creating a wedding gift list is a win-win for everyone, making gift-giving more meaningful and enjoyable as you celebrate the couple’s love and new adventure together.

Congratulations on your engagement! Now, let’s chat about that all-important task on your to-do list: creating your wedding gift list. We know it can feel a bit daunting at first, but don’t worry—with a little guidance and plenty of enthusiasm, we’re here to make it all wonderfully straightforward for you.
Meet Joy, your partner for this gift list adventure. Think of it as building your ultimate wish list for this exciting new chapter together. We’ve got you sorted, from kitchen gadgets that’ll have you feeling like a top chef to cosy throws that’ll turn your Netflix nights into a proper snuggle.
Creating a wedding gift list isn’t just about ticking off items; it’s about weaving your personalities, quirks, and dreams into every choice. This is the perfect moment to imagine your ideal home together.
With Joy, it’s all about making the process fun and stress-free. So go on, dream big, get creative, and let’s make this gift list a true reflection of your unique love story.

Starting your gift list
We recommend starting your gift list around 8–9 months before your big day. This gives you plenty of time to curate a wish list that really reflects the style you want for this new chapter.
Once you’ve set up your list, it’s time for the fun bit: adding your wedding gifts. Our user-friendly interface makes browsing and adding gifts a breeze. In the Joy Shop, you can add everything from kitchen essentials that’ll turn you into a culinary whizz to Zero-Fee Cash Funds to help make that dream honeymoon a reality. Anything’s possible.
But that’s not all. Joy lets you add gifts from your favourite shops, so you’re not limited to just our shop. You can literally add anything from any website you fancy. With Universal Search, you can keep everything in one place. You can even copy gift lists from elsewhere. We’ve recently launched a new tool that lets you add gifts from a friend’s list. So, if you know someone who’s recently tied the knot and you love their style, they can share their list with you, and you can make it your own.
Now, you might be thinking, “Where do we even start?” The answer’s probably easier than you think. At Joy, we’ve got your back with our Gift List Checklist tool, making sure no essential gets left behind. From handy kitchen gadgets to luxurious linens, the world’s your oyster.

When deciding how many gifts to include on your wedding list, we suggest adding more items than the number of guests, so everyone can find something they’d love to give you. Remember to cater for different budgets by including a range of options. Our Gift List Calculator tool can help you strike the perfect balance. And don’t forget, you can include everything you truly want, as we offer a 20% Newlywed Discount on any remaining items after your wedding.

Your gift list is a reflection of your unique journey together. Embrace variety by including gifts that celebrate your passions and shared adventures. Whether you’re foodies, travel lovers, or eco-conscious heroes, let your list tell your story. Experiences like cooking classes or a weekend away can create memories to last a lifetime. Cash funds for your dream honeymoon or a deposit on your first home add a practical touch. And let’s not forget charitable donations—a meaningful way to give back and spread the love on your special day.

A seamless experience for your guests
With Joy, your guests can enjoy one smooth checkout experience. You can personalise your own wedding gift list site and let guests shop everything in one place.

Plus, it’s a chance to add personal touches, from treasured experiences to charitable gestures. It’s a win-win for everyone.
Thanks to Group Gifting, your guests can also club together to get you something extra special. You pick the gift they can share, and they simply chip in whatever amount suits them.

  • Allison & Benjamin’s Wedding Registry

In January 2021, in the midst of a global pandemic, two adventurous souls found themselves drawn together by a shared love for bouldering. Meet Ally and Ben, whose serendipitous meeting at the Hive Climbing Gym would set the stage for a love story that would potentially go down as the greatest in Canadian history (no bias, of course). One fateful afternoon, Allison, a full-time career gal with a love for bouldering, found herself at the climbing gym. She navigated the colourful holds and challenging routes with grace and determination. Little did she know that her path would soon intersect with that of Ben, a regular climber who was a full-time University student squeezing the most out of his flexible schedule to work on a challenging route in the early afternoon.Ben attempted a difficult new route in which he fell off and instantly hurt his left ring finger. Unknowingly, Allison encouraged him on his attempt. Captivated by her enthusiasm (and bright blue ’white walker’ eyes) Ben couldn’t resist striking up a conversation. They got to talking, and talking turned into an hour. Before parting ways, Allison gave Ben her number in hopes to have a new ‘climbing buddy’. But to both of their excitement, their chemistry ignited a spark for which friendship just would not do.Their friendship and connection grew stronger with each shared adventure, and it wasn’t long before they realized they had found something special in each other. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, Ben and Ally were creative in dates from ocean side walks, hammocking in the forest, to homemade pizza nights in.After laughing through two years as partners in crime, these two adventurers recognized this was the adventure to commit their lives to.

  • Thomas & Bryana’s Wedding Registry

The first time we met, we were both playing a riveting game of “Titanic” in one of those team-building exercises that we all know and love. I remember thinking, well if I’m stuck on a doomed ship, being stuck with her wouldn’t be so bad—we both ended up drowned. Then a few months later I began flirting with her. “Hey” I would say and then I would wonder why she wasn’t picking up what I was putting down. Eventually, I decided that I would need to up my game, so under the guise of planning a friend’s going away party, we set off to venture for a pinata. One party planning venture, a trip to REI, many walks later, and I find myself about to embark on the next adventure with the most beautiful, smart, and amazing woman I’ve ever met.

  • Taylor & Efe’s Wedding Registry

It was a beautiful day in August of 2018, and Taylor was at Pickles Pub across from Camden Yards with her friends Erin and Anthony. Taylor was being set up with their friend Dylan. She was quite recently single and was only allowing this setup to happen to appease her friend Erin.

Pano to Efe: Dylan told Efe that he had an extra ticket to the Orioles game (Taylor’s ticket) and invited him to join. Right before they arrive to Pickles, Dylan turns to Efe, explains he’s being set up, and tells Efe he’s not interested (Taylor’s Facebook profile was lackluster it seems.) But when they both see Taylor, Dylan trys to take it back. They both talk over each other trying to buy Taylor drinks, which continues throughout the Orioles game.

What Dylan didn’t know was that he had lost the moment Taylor saw Efe. Green eyes and black hair, totally her type. And he’s Turkish! How interesting! The five of them spent the whole day together, as baseball games are rather long. The fact that both Efe and Taylor were around their friends made it apparent that they were being their authentic selves, and so Taylor was blunt and Efe was silly. At dinner at the end of the day, Efe slid a napkin across the table, asking Taylor for her number :)

The next day, Efe told his friend Conor, “I really hope it works out with this girl!”

  • Makeya & Bre’Kean’s Wedding Registry

Ken and I were invited to an event to celebrate someone we love. I arrived at the event first and became acquainted with my friend’s family, a.k .a. his family. Little did I, or shall I say we, know that My friend’s family was playing matchmakers, and when Bre’kean arrived, we were both strongly encouraged to speak. We had small conversations, and then it was time for me to leave.

However, as you may know, when we make plans, God laughs because as I was trying to leave, my tire caught a flat, and Bre’Kean put on the spare and made sure I got home safely. Our story continued, and for a few weeks, we dated and had long conversations, and both realized that we wanted to be together. So, we made it official!

  • Morgan & Gray’s Wedding Registry

Gray and Morgan met on November 19, 2021, at an engagement party on Folly Beach. Gray attended the University of South Carolina with the future groom, and Morgan went to Clemson University with the future bride (thank you, Brunsons!).

Morgan briefly talked to Gray at the party, then a few days passed, and she decided to follow him on Instagram (she thought he was super cute, so why not?). He immediately reached out to her, and the rest is history.

Their first date was Downtown Charleston at Barsa on December 1, 2021. After dinner, the two grabbed espresso martinis at Vintage Lounge for dessert.

On December 24, 2023 (Christmas Eve!), Gray proposed at Morgan’s Nana and Papa’s house (her mom’s parents) in front of her family.

To give a glimpse of Gray’s heart, as they headed back to Morgan’s parents’ house that day, with tears in his eyes, Gray told her that he knew he wanted to propose in front of her family because ever since the first time he met them, they have always made him feel like family.

Morgan thanks God every day for bringing Gray into her life. He is proof that God always gives us His very best, and she couldn’t be more grateful that she gets to love him forever.

  • Katie & Ryan’s Wedding Registry

We first met in the most magical place on earth--Bumble, where the woman is forced to make the first move. As Katie continued to make the big moves, Ryan stayed along for the ride as he always does. From our first date at Cityside in Brighton, we both knew that our bond over dogs, 90s music, good food, and the Great British Bake off could lead to something more than just a first date. After that, we were inseparable and there was never a question about spending the rest of our lives together. We’ve raised a dog, grieved together, traveled across the world, fallen in love, and moved in together, but we are most excited to get married and spend the rest of our lives together.

  • Darya & Jesse’s Wedding Registry

Darya and Jesse met in the summer of 2016. Jesse was having a BBQ at his house in Felton and Darya stopped by with a mutual friend.

They started talking and connected over their shared love of art and music. As fate would have it, not only did they live close to one another, but they worked just one block apart in downtown Santa Cruz

Darya often went to New Leaf Market, where Jesse worked, on her lunch break. They’d wave to each other in the check out line and it wasn’t long before they took their friendship to the next level. Their first date was at Monty’s Log Cabin, a favorite local dive bar in the redwoods

As their relationship grew they moved into their first apartment together, traveled to new places, and adopted their first puppy named Scout.

Some of their favorite travel memories together have been riding bikes through tulip fields in Amsterdam, and traveling by camper van to hike the red rocks of Sedona, Arizona.

Jesse received his masters degree from CSUMB and started his teaching career at Watsonville Highschool while Darya started medical assisting at the Capitola Health Center, and found her passion in creating stained glass art

On their 6 year anniversary, they took a ride up the coast on Jesse’s motorcycle and had a picnic overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Jesse got down on one knee and proposed to Darya at sunset. She, of course, said "YES!"
