Joy Proposal Story: Cassidy & Ky

by Cali Pitchel

How did the two of you meet?

We met in college but were friends for most of it. He didn’t ask me to be ‘more than friends’ until senior year!

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

We went to dinner for Ky’s dad’s birthday when visiting Illinois for the holidays. My parents & brother were there, too. They gave away our table even though we made reservations and everyone was so up in arms about it. We finally sat down and didn’t even place our drink order yet when he got down and asked! After dinner, he brought me over to the bar to have some champagne and all of my friends were there to surprise me! A lot of tears and hugs that night, it was so special!

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Deciding if we were going to have the wedding in Colorado where we live or back where we grew up, in Illinois. It wasn’t easy to make that decision, but now that we have we are so excited to share this beautiful place we live with our family and friends as we become a family!

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

I’ve helped so many people plan their own weddings so I’m taking my time and enjoying every single moment that comes with planning a wedding. I know that at the end of the day no matter how organized I am, things happen and we’ll have to just go with it. It’ll be perfect regardless!

You are becoming a family with someone who is going to be the parent of your children, your partner in all things life and love, it’s meaningful!

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

Sharing information in an user-friendly way! I want my guests to know what’s going on and feel like they have a resource when planning their trip to Colorado. Joy is perfect for that!

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Add everything! Registry, accommodations, a link to your band so they can get a sneak preview, whatever you like!

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

A lot of people get caught up in spending so much money on one day, but that one day is so special. You are becoming a family with someone who is going to be the parent of your children, your partner in all things life and love, it’s meaningful!
