Joy Proposal Story: Christina & Joshua

by Allie Grampa

Josh and Christina first met in elementary school, living just a few blocks away from each other. (Little did they know that their lifetime love was so close the whole time!) After growing up, going away to college, and starting their careers, life finally crossed their paths again. And the rest is history!

Give us the details! When? Where? How?

Josh is always going above and beyond for Christina. During the Christmas of 2015 Josh surprised Christina with a trip to New York City over Valentine’s Day weekend; a place Christina had never been to, but always hoped to visit. During the trip, Josh completely threw Christina for a loop, telling her that the timing wasn’t right and that he hoped she didn’t expect anything (a proposal).

It was later that night when the two decided to explore Times Square. The weather was freezing so not many people were out. Christina and Josh ventured into the cold to take pictures and see the sights. It was then when Josh walked away and asked a police officer to take their picture. Instead of standing next to Christina, Josh dropped to one knee and asked her for her forever. Lots of tears and pictures later, they were engaged.

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Planning the wedding has been such a positive and eye opening experience. It has allowed Josh and Christina to really dive into what each other envisioned for their perfect day, and for their future. Plus, they got to do it together!

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

Josh and Christina really lean on each other when things have gotten stressful.  Before anything else Josh and Christina are friends and they put each other’s needs first.

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy should last forever. What does that mean to you?

A wedding is the symbolic “next step” into your new life. It is one day that tells the world you are committed forever. Joy is something that you purpose to create for your loved one. Joy is the feeling you get when you put their needs above yours, their happiness, and their comfort. Joy is living for one another.
