Joy Proposal Story: Marvel & Arthur

by Kelsey Vickers

How did the two of you meet?

We met in High School! We got to know each other when he sat behind me in our AP Physics class.

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

He proposed where it all started, at Walnut Hills High School! He took me out dancing (which I love to do) and then afterward, drove me to the high school we attended together. He asked me to marry him and I said, “Yes!” The ring was custom made and suggested to him by my daughter.  Months before the proposal, she sent a text that started with, “This may be jumping the gun, but if you are looking for ideas…”

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Working with my fiance, my daughter (who is my maid of honor) and his daughters (who are my bridesmaids) to plan every detail of the wedding.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

My daughter is the wedding general and has it all under control! (I think). We do what she tells us to do. She is doing a great job maintaining the timeline and to-do list. Plus, we kiss a lot!

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

It’s a very nice way to organize a lot of information. It also helps you communicate with guests and centralize the management of wedding planning.

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Sign up early but keep the website private until you have it ready for prime time!

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

We are both Christians. The joy of the Lord is what we are seeking in our marriage, for the rest of our lives.
