How did the two of you meet?
My college roommate and her boyfriend at the time were really good friends with Kyle!
How long have you been together?
We met on March 7, 2014 and started dating exactly one year later, so 2.5 years!
Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?
We were in Atlanta, GA for a 4th of July trip with some friends. We got there on Sunday, July 2nd, and had planned to have professional pictures taken in a town called Covington. Kyle told me about this town about a week before we went and convinced me that we should go tour it since The Walking Dead and other movies were filmed there! Well, his mom, who is a picture fanatic, insisted that we have our pictures taken at this bed and breakfast that was in the town, so she found a photographer and set it all up!
“Kyle turned to me and said, I can’t keep this a secret any longer!”
It never crossed my mind that he would propose since his mom set it all up. Well, Sunday evening we were getting ready at the hotel, and Kyle told me I forgot to pack his khaki pants for the pictures (of course I would forget those), but he didn’t make a big deal about it so I definitely knew he wasn’t going to propose. We got to Covington and our first place to take pictures was at Twelve Oaks Bed and Breakfast. The photographer, who was amazing, placed us to take some pictures, and Kyle turned to me and said “I can’t keep this a secret any longer! We aren’t taking these pictures for my mom.” I am not quite sure what all was said after that besides “will you marry me” and all I could say back was “are you serious?!?! yes!!”
What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
It has all been so much fun! My favorite experience thus far has been getting to make all the decisions with Kyle.
How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
I am such a relaxed person and don’t let much bother me. I told myself from the beginning that I can’t please everyone all the time. This is our wedding and it will be done just the way we want it!
What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?
What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?
Use everything Joy has to offer! It has been so easy to use this website and app. Make sure to tell everyone that there is an app!
At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?
That means that I will always be connected to the people who celebrated our day with us!
