The Best of Big Sur Wedding Venues

big sur wedding venues

Big Sur is one of those rare, surreal places that takes your breath away and makes you believe in something greater. Giant ancient trees and dramatic cliffs meet the startling expanse of the Pacific in a mesmerizing, and sometimes violent, dance of wind and water — your senses can’t possibly take it all in. All of this, of course, makes Big Sur a spectacular wedding destination.

Most of the coast in Big Sur is elevated, but if you’re dreaming of a beach ceremony in Big Sur, Pfeiffer Beach and the beaches in Andrew Molera State park are possible options. Just make sure to check California’s State Park requirements and closings. Otherwise, there are tons of gorgeous venues in the area that have everything you need (and then some). Check out some of our favorite Big Sur wedding venues, and make this magical place part of your personal history

Ventana Inn and Spa

Ventana Inn and Spa is uniquely positioned to take advantage of all the diverse natural beauty of Big Sur. Choose to say your vows among towering redwoods, golden meadows, or overlooking the sparkling coastline. After the ceremony, move on over to their terrace reception area. Enjoy a fabulous meal prepared by Ventana’s executive chef as the sun sets over the Pacific, then dance the night away under the stars. (The terrace can also be tented for year-round comfort.)

Capacity: 200
Typical cost: $20,000 – $30,000 base cost
Bonus: Reviewers rave about Ventana’s friendly and accommodating event staff.

Holman Ranch Vineyards and Winery

Do you like relaxing and drinking wine? Then you might like it here. Set on 400 acres of hills and vineyards, Holman Ranch is the ideal setting for a wondrous wine-filled wedding weekend getaway. Since the ranch only hosts one wedding at a time, you know you’ll be getting individualized service (with no chance of running into another bride). Plus, this place is insanely beautiful. The photos speak for themselves.

Capacity: 500

Typical cost:$30,000

Bonus: The ranch also produces six varietals of olives. Yum!

Post House Inn

For small weddings (from elopements to 40-person weddings), the Post House Inn is an unforgettable venue. Set on the coast, the Post House Inn treats you to staggering panoramic views up and down the Big Sur coastline. With fine dining, a killer wine cellar, and an award-winning spa, the Inn has everything you need for a luxurious and intimate wedding weekend.

Capacity: 40

Typical cost: Site fee is $10,000 for 11-24 people or $20,000 for 24-40 people. The Tiny Wedding Package (10 people) is $5,000.

Bonus: Can’t host your wedding here? Consider it for your honeymoon.

Bernardus Lodge and Spa

Bernardus Lodge and Spa is a premiere wedding venue set on 28 acres of vineyards, orchards, and gardens in beautiful Carmel Valley. The Lodge offers a variety of pre-set wedding packages, but their talented wedding designers and catering team can also help you build any kind of event you’re dreaming of. Between the creative decor and views of the Santa Lucia Mountains, this place is a dream.

Capacity: 150

Typical cost: $25,000 – $50,000

Bonus: Dog moms and cat dads, listen up: Bernardus is pet-friendly! They provide “plush” dog beds, treats, and even have a newsletter called the “Bernardus Barker” that lists pet-friendly places you can take your furry friends. Sold!

Glen Oaks Big Sur

Commit to a lifetime of joy amid the romance of the redwoods at Glen Oaks Big Sur. For your magical event, choose from their outdoor and indoor reception areas, or buy out the entire restaurant featuring the best of locally grown Californian cuisines. Glen Oaks also offers tons of accommodations. Book up their lodge or cozy cabins so you and your guests can sleep among the wise old trees.

Capacity: 100

Typical cost: $15,000 – $30,000

Bonus: What better place to practice your tree pose than among the giants? Glen Oaks provides yoga mats in each room for just that occasion.
