5 Classic Pasadena Wedding Venues

Pasadena, the cultural center of the San Gabriel Valley is more than just the Rose Parade and college football. With all of its beautiful historic mansions and hotels, Pasadena is also home more than its fair share of amazing locations for your wedding. Here are just a few of our favorite Pasadena wedding venues!

The Maxwell House

The Maxwell House is a 1929 mansion whose style is inspired by the architecture of Tuscany. It’s also an amazingly affordable wedding venue that we just can’t get over. Renting the Maxwell House gives you tons of space. You get use of the living room, the dining room, the library and the garden patios, all of which are simply gorgeous. There’s also a dance floor at the back of the foyer! They allow you to use outside vendors, so you have the freedom to choose the caterer, DJ, and day-of coordinator that works best for your wedding. All that plus a rehearsal dinner the Friday before your wedding is included in the wedding package! We could go on and on, but we suggest you schedule a tour ASAP to find out more, as they only host one wedding per weekend and dates get snapped up fast.

Capacity: 120

Typical cost: $5,500

Bonus: Their proceeds go to supporting the work of the nonprofit Western Justice Center.

University Club

The University Club of Pasadena is a charming event space that is also surprisingly affordable. The outside patio is the perfect location for your ceremony or a cocktail reception, while your guests will enjoy the elegant decor of the club’s dining room with its beautiful chandeliers. Wedding packages include in-house catering, which is also a big plus—reviewers rave about the food at the University Club!

Capacity: 430

Typical cost: $1,000–$4,800

Bonus: You can become a member of the club to enjoy the facilities and world-class dining any time!

Castle Green

The Castle Green is truly a sight to behold. Built in 1898, this Nationally Registered Historic Monument features a gorgeous Mediterranean Revival style. Its multiple space for events make it a great venue for weddings of all sizes, while the vintage decor gives your event the magical feel of Old Pasadena. The venue also features three separate bars, to give you and your guests plenty of options for the big party.

Capacity: 200–500

Typical cost: $4,000–$7,500

Bonus: To make an event at Castle Green even more affordable, you are allowed to bring your own alcohol and have it served by professional bartenders or catering staff.

The Romanesque Room

The Romanesque Room offers a beautiful indoor space for your ceremony, and a truly unique dining experience for your wedding reception. As the name suggests, the interior of the dining room is designed with flourishes in the Romanesque style common to Medieval palaces and cathedrals. It was once the main dining room for the Hotel Green (whose complex also included the Castle Green above), and it shares some of the same classic Pasadena feel of the area. Events feature delicious meals by Castle Catering, who are the owners of the venue.

Capacity: 250

Typical cost: $1,500–$3,750 rental fee, catering $59–$69 per person

Bonus: The staff are also wedding experts who can help you find the best Pasadena wedding vendors for your money.

The York Manor

Located in the nearby Highland Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, the York Manor is a local historical landmark that was built as a church in 1913. Both its front and back yards are great for events, as well as the spacious ballroom (seen above). There is also a basement speakeasy that is great for a relaxed reception or after party. Most aspects of events at the York Manor are DIY, but the flexibility the venue allows you to create just the kind of event you want is well worth it.

Capacity: 220

Typical cost: $3,500–$5,000

Bonus: The driveway is an excellent location for a food truck reception.
