Eric and Brittney first met at a bar where some of our mutual friends worked and ended up reconnecting through a Facebook message. Brittney was interested in learning more about the beer industry (that Eric worked in at the time) and Eric was interested in taking Brittney out!
Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?
We live on Maui and all our family lives in California. My Mom decided to come over to Maui for Christmas vacation. He thought, no better time to propose then when I have my Mom by my side. So Christmas morning came and everyone had opened their presents when Eric said he has just one more to give me.
Joy for us would mean for Eric and I to celebrate our love for one another every single day.
I unwrapped a cute little picture frame with our photo and he asked me to read what the frame said, so I said aloud, “You me and the sea.” He responded with “I’d like it to be you, me and the sea forever.” Eric got down on his knee as I started to ball. I couldn’t even tell you what he said after that. I was just in shock. Luckily, my mom got the whole thing on video! It was the sweetest moment. Just us on Christmas morning still wearing our Christmas jammies! It was best.
What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
My favorite part of planning the wedding has been our teamwork. Eric has helped me every step of the way so far and I am truly grateful that he has an interest in planning this with me!
How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
We remember that it all comes down to the fact that we are doing this for us and to celebrate our love and not to impress anyone else. (Beer and wine help too!)
What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?
It is so easy to use and navigate! I also love that you can have up to date info on your website or app! Since we are getting married on Maui it is a destination wedding for most of our guests. I love that you can update travel info along with activities and and schedule.
What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?
I would advise to just take your time and dig into the website to make sure you are using all of its functions. There are so many great ones! Also, update as often as you’d like!
At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?
As I said before, the wedding is about celebrating our love with others. Joy for us would mean for Eric and I to celebrate our love for one another every single day.
