Joy Proposal Story: Conner & Nellie

Joy Proposal Story: Conner & Nellie

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

I proposed in Arches National Park on March 5th, 2019, and it was a total surprise to her. I asked her parents for permission back in December of 2018 because I wanted them to be a part of the surprise. We went skiing with her family in Park City, UT the weekend before the proposal. After departing Park City, we drove to Arches National Park to camp in a teardrop trailer for a couple of days. I proposed around sunset near Tapestry Arch, and she had no idea that it was coming. She said, “Yes!” We spent the next couple of days hiking around and talking about our future together. We then proceeded to drive to Telluride, CO to ski with my family at the end of the week. Little did she know that I planned for her parents to surprise her in Telluride. When we arrived at the condo, we were welcomed by my family who had set up flowers and pictures of us. Then her parents came out from the kitchen, and she burst into tears…happy tears of course. The whole proposal and surprise went so smoothly, and I could not have asked for a better week and a better woman to marry!

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

We are just getting started! I think we both like different aspects, but it is all so exciting and we are diving right into it full steam.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

Honestly, both of us have parents who have big personalities and a lot of energy. However, the two of us are much more relaxed. We both love to plan and organize, and we do a great job of communicating with one another. Ask me in two weeks to see if that has changed!

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

I really like the intuitive interface of the editing browser on Joy. Smart user interfaces are key!

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Think outside of the box, it’s nice to be able to customize. Consider how you can use “travel notes” or “lists” to link to websites or blogs to help your guests out.

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

I couldn’t be happier right now. Even though I have heard that wedding planning is supposed to be stressful, this whole process has helped Nellie and I grow even closer. We are having fun planning together, and this positive and exciting outlook summarizes our relationship. We may be planning for one big day, but this is just the beginning of a lifetime of joy and adventure!
