Joy Proposal Story: Jayden & Sarah

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

Let’s just say he did it in the cutest, most dorky, Jayden-esque way possible! With a good mixture of awkward and silly. We went from the beach to a restaurant and then to a park before he finally mustered up the courage to ask. He proposed at a spot overlooking the city at Signal Hill. I still remember, we found our way to a bench at the top of the hill overlooking the city. I could tell he was trying to find the moment as he kept looking around to make sure there weren’t too many people walking by. Those next 10 minutes were filled with some awkward conversations that always ended with him fidgeting in his seat until finally he jumped up and said, “Sarah! Close your eyes!” All I could hear was him digging through his backpack. Then, he grabbed my hand, knelt down and asked me to open my eyes. There he was on one knee as nervous as nervous could be, and then came the question, “Will you marry me?!” I couldn’t, not say yes!

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

My favorite part has been sitting down with my bridesmaids, my favorite girls, and getting excited with them about the wedding day! Wedding planning has given us even more excuses to hang out and just chill.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

I have to constantly remind myself that everything will work itself out in time. Hey, I still have three more months of planning time left!

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

I’m the opposite of tech-savvy. I sometimes feel like I should be reading “Using the Internet for Dummies” when it comes to anything tech-related. So, you can imagine how daunting the task of building a wedding website was for me! Joy made my life so much easier. In fact, building the website was so easy that I helped my other girlfriend (who is also wedding planning right now) to build hers!

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Take advantage of the sample text on all of the website page options. All the sample tidbit questions and page descriptions helped me so much!

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

I believe that marriage is so much more than just the wedding day, it’s about what happens after the wedding. While preparing for our wedding day, we’re setting the tone for the rest of our marriage for how we make decisions together and honor and respect one another.
