A wedding registry is a personalised wishlist that helps your guests pick out gifts you’ll actually love as you kick off your life together. With Joy, you can set up a free wedding registry in just a few minutes. Add gifts from Joy’s shop or any store online—from kitchen must-haves to furniture—and keep it all in one easy-to-share link for your mates and family.

Prefer cash over the usual presents? Create zero-fee cash funds for your honeymoon, house deposit, or anything else you’re saving for, and let guests chip in directly. You can mix and match physical gifts, cash funds, and charity donations in one wedding registry, then score a 20% completion discount on eligible items left after the big day.

Trusted by millions of couples, Joy makes it simple to build, manage, and share your wedding registry, keep track of gifts as they arrive, and send thank you notes without the fuss.

We’ve teamed up with your favourite cash-sharing services like Venmo, PayPal, and Cash App, so guests can easily send funds to couples—no credit card processing fees or sneaky charges.

It all depends on what you need or want for your wedding or bridal registry. For example, if you and your partner have just moved in together or bought a new place, your wish list might include a stand mixer, dinnerware, or some handy kitchen gadgets. If you’d rather receive cash gifts so you can choose what to buy, you can set up a cash registry and put it towards something special, like a romantic honeymoon or a deposit on your dream home. Whatever you’re hoping for, make sure to add a quick note or mention it on your wedding website to let everyone know why.

It’s a good idea to start your registry any time from when you kick off wedding planning up to about 4 months before your big day. You’ll probably want your registry sorted before you send out invites, since guests will want to check it out by then.

When you’re setting up your wedding registry, it’s a good idea to give your guests heaps of choice—so it’s best to add more gifts than you have guests. For example, if you’ve got 90 guests, aim for at least 100 items on your registry. You can create registries with different brands like Amazon, Bed Bath & Beyond, Crate & Barrel, and Williams-Sonoma, then sync them all to your Joy registry to make shopping a breeze for your guests.

For family and friends who are more familiar with traditional gift registries, it helps to add a note explaining what their cash gift will go towards, and to let them know how grateful you are for anything they choose to give.

Not at all! In fact, in many places outside the US, it’s pretty common (and sometimes expected) to give money instead of traditional gifts. Lately, cash gifting’s become more popular in the US too, as couples prefer experiences over more stuff—helped along by cash registry platforms like Joy and Honeyfund. Have a look at our article Cash Wedding Registries: An Introductory Guide for tips on how to handle cash requests on your wedding website.

It’s always a good idea to give your loved ones plenty of gift options. Some wedding guests might not feel comfortable giving cash, so it’s smart to include a wedding gift registry too.

Absolutely! Joy helps you keep track of who’s given a gift and lets you send personalised messages to your guests.

Putting together a wedding registry can feel a bit overwhelming, especially when you’re flat out planning your big day and sorting everything else. But don’t stress! Setting up your registry with Joy is a breeze. Once you’ve signed up, just head to our shop and start adding gifts.
You can also add presents from your favourite shops or copy over any registries you’ve made elsewhere. Plus, you can even add gifts from your mates’ registries, making things even easier and more personal.

No need to stress about making a wedding registry checklist yourself. Joy gives you a Registry Checklist so you won’t forget any of the things you’ll want for this next chapter. What you need will depend on your lifestyle and what you’re into. If you’re moving in together for the first time, your registry might look pretty different to a couple planning to travel the world.
A great way to kick things off is by picking out the essentials for your new life together—think kitchen gadgets, home basics, and linens. Make sure to include a mix of items at different price points so all your guests can find something that suits their budget. You might also want to add cash funds for future plans or donations to a cause you care about, to give your registry a bit more meaning. Experiences are another top pick, letting you create memories that’ll last a lifetime. In the end, your registry should reflect what you actually want and need, so your loved ones can support you in ways that matter as you start this new adventure together. By putting together a good mix of gifts, you’ll give your guests plenty of choice and make gift-giving a breeze.

There’s no magic number of gifts you need on your wedding registry, but it’s a good idea to have more items than guests. That way, everyone’s got plenty of choice, no matter their taste or budget. To make things easier, Joy’s handy Registry Calculator can help you work out the right number of gifts—just pop in your guest count and you’ll get a recommendation that covers all price points. This makes it a breeze for your guests to pick something, and helps you build a registry that suits your style and needs. Whether you’re after home essentials, cash funds, or unforgettable experiences, a good mix means your registry truly reflects you.
Plus, don’t forget our 20% Registry Completion Discount on anything left in your registry after your big day. Add those must-haves now so you can snap them up later at a sweet price.

You can kick off your registry whenever suits you, but we recommend setting up your wedding registry about 8–9 months before your big day. That way, you’ve got plenty of time to pick out things that fit your lifestyle and taste. Plus, starting early gives your guests heaps of time to browse and find the perfect pressies, making things easy and stress-free for everyone. It’s a good idea to have your registry sorted before you send out any shower or wedding invites, so your guests can plan and buy gifts ahead of time. Getting onto your registry early means no last-minute scrambles, and you’ll end up with a list that really reflects what you both want as you start this exciting new chapter together.

There are plenty of reasons why Joy is one of the top spots for wedding registries. Our platform is easy to use and covers everything, giving couples and their guests an all-in-one solution that takes the stress out of setting up a registry. With a huge range of products from leading brands in the Joy Shop, couples can easily find things that suit their style. Plus, you can add gifts from other shops too, so you get exactly what you want. Joy also comes with great perks like free shipping on all orders over $45, easy returns, and a generous 20% Registry Completion Discount. Our zero-fee cash funds mean couples can receive cash gifts towards their future plans, with no extra charges. You can even add charity donations to your registry, making it easy to support causes that matter to you.
On top of that, Joy offers all sorts of gifting options like gift cards, honeymoon funds, and experiences, so your registry can really show off who you are as a couple. With a smooth interface and loads of handy features, Joy makes the whole registry process simple, enjoyable, and memorable for everyone involved.

Honestly, there’s no real difference between a bridal registry and a wedding registry. It’s just about how you look at it. Traditionally, women usually took the lead with registries, which is how the name stuck to the bride. But these days, weddings are a team effort, and it’s totally normal for both partners to set up their registry together—or for the whole 'bride' and 'groom' thing not to matter at all.

Creating a wedding registry comes with plenty of perks for both couples and their guests. Sure, friends and family might want to buy you gifts no matter what, but having a registry means you’ll get items, experiences, or cash fund contributions that actually suit your needs and style. A wedding registry is a handy guide for guests, pointing them towards gifts you’ll truly love and use.
Plus, with a registry, you can dodge double-ups and gifts that just don’t fit, making sure every present helps build your future together. It’s also a great way for couples to show off their personalities and dreams—whether that’s picking out homewares, planning adventures, or supporting a good cause. In the end, a wedding registry is a win-win for everyone, making gift-giving simple, meaningful, and a real celebration of your love and journey together.

Congrats on your engagement! Now, let’s chat about that all-important task on your to-do list: setting up your wedding registry. We get it—starting your registry can feel a bit overwhelming, but don’t stress. With a bit of guidance and a heap of excitement, we’re here to make it a breeze.
Meet Joy, your mate for this registry adventure. Think of it as building your ultimate wish list for this next chapter together. We’ve got you sorted, from kitchen gadgets that’ll have you cooking up a storm to cosy throws for those Netflix-and-chill nights.
Creating a wedding registry isn’t just about ticking boxes; it’s about weaving your personalities, quirks, and dreams into every choice. This is your chance to imagine your dream home together.
With Joy, it’s all about making things fun and stress-free. So go on, dream big, get creative, and let’s make your wedding registry a true reflection of your love story.

Getting started
We recommend kicking off your registry about 8–9 months before the big day. That way, you’ve got plenty of time to put together a wish list that really shows off your style for this new chapter.
Once you’re set up, it’s time for the fun part: adding your wedding gifts. Our easy-to-use interface makes browsing and adding gifts a walk in the park. In the Joy Shop, you can add everything from kitchen must-haves to Zero-Fee Cash Funds for that dream honeymoon. Anything’s possible.
But wait, there’s more. Joy lets you add gifts from your favourite shops, so you’re not limited to just our store. You can literally add anything from any website you like. With Universal Search, it’s all in one spot. You can even copy registries from elsewhere. We’ve just launched a new tool that lets you add gifts from a mate’s registry—so if your friends recently tied the knot and you love their style, they can share their registry link and you can make it your own.
Wondering where to start? It’s easier than you think. At Joy, we’ve got your back with our Registry Checklist tool, so you won’t miss a thing. From handy kitchen gadgets to luxe linens, the world’s your oyster.

When it comes to how many gifts to add, we suggest popping in more items than you have guests—so everyone can find something they’d love to give. Don’t forget to include a range of price points to suit all budgets. Our Registry Calculator tool can help you strike the perfect balance. And don’t be shy—add everything you truly want, because we offer a 20% Newlywed Discount on any leftover items after your wedding.

Your registry should reflect your unique journey together. Mix it up with gifts that celebrate your passions and adventures. Whether you’re foodies, travel lovers, or eco-warriors, let your registry tell your story. Experiences like cooking classes or a weekend away make memories that last. Cash funds for your dream honeymoon or a deposit on your first home add a practical touch. And don’t forget about charity donations—a beautiful way to give back and spread the love on your big day.

  • Allison & Benjamin’s Wedding Registry

In January 2021, in the midst of a global pandemic, two adventurous souls found themselves drawn together by a shared love for bouldering. Meet Ally and Ben, whose serendipitous meeting at the Hive Climbing Gym would set the stage for a love story that would potentially go down as the greatest in Canadian history (no bias, of course). One fateful afternoon, Allison, a full-time career gal with a love for bouldering, found herself at the climbing gym. She navigated the colourful holds and challenging routes with grace and determination. Little did she know that her path would soon intersect with that of Ben, a regular climber who was a full-time University student squeezing the most out of his flexible schedule to work on a challenging route in the early afternoon.Ben attempted a difficult new route in which he fell off and instantly hurt his left ring finger. Unknowingly, Allison encouraged him on his attempt. Captivated by her enthusiasm (and bright blue ’white walker’ eyes) Ben couldn’t resist striking up a conversation. They got to talking, and talking turned into an hour. Before parting ways, Allison gave Ben her number in hopes to have a new ‘climbing buddy’. But to both of their excitement, their chemistry ignited a spark for which friendship just would not do.Their friendship and connection grew stronger with each shared adventure, and it wasn’t long before they realized they had found something special in each other. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, Ben and Ally were creative in dates from ocean side walks, hammocking in the forest, to homemade pizza nights in.After laughing through two years as partners in crime, these two adventurers recognized this was the adventure to commit their lives to.

  • Thomas & Bryana’s Wedding Registry

The first time we met, we were both playing a riveting game of “Titanic” in one of those team-building exercises that we all know and love. I remember thinking, well if I’m stuck on a doomed ship, being stuck with her wouldn’t be so bad—we both ended up drowned. Then a few months later I began flirting with her. “Hey” I would say and then I would wonder why she wasn’t picking up what I was putting down. Eventually, I decided that I would need to up my game, so under the guise of planning a friend’s going away party, we set off to venture for a pinata. One party planning venture, a trip to REI, many walks later, and I find myself about to embark on the next adventure with the most beautiful, smart, and amazing woman I’ve ever met.

  • Taylor & Efe’s Wedding Registry

It was a beautiful day in August of 2018, and Taylor was at Pickles Pub across from Camden Yards with her friends Erin and Anthony. Taylor was being set up with their friend Dylan. She was quite recently single and was only allowing this setup to happen to appease her friend Erin.

Pano to Efe: Dylan told Efe that he had an extra ticket to the Orioles game (Taylor’s ticket) and invited him to join. Right before they arrive to Pickles, Dylan turns to Efe, explains he’s being set up, and tells Efe he’s not interested (Taylor’s Facebook profile was lackluster it seems.) But when they both see Taylor, Dylan trys to take it back. They both talk over each other trying to buy Taylor drinks, which continues throughout the Orioles game.

What Dylan didn’t know was that he had lost the moment Taylor saw Efe. Green eyes and black hair, totally her type. And he’s Turkish! How interesting! The five of them spent the whole day together, as baseball games are rather long. The fact that both Efe and Taylor were around their friends made it apparent that they were being their authentic selves, and so Taylor was blunt and Efe was silly. At dinner at the end of the day, Efe slid a napkin across the table, asking Taylor for her number :)

The next day, Efe told his friend Conor, “I really hope it works out with this girl!”

  • Makeya & Bre’Kean’s Wedding Registry

Ken and I were invited to an event to celebrate someone we love. I arrived at the event first and became acquainted with my friend’s family, a.k .a. his family. Little did I, or shall I say we, know that My friend’s family was playing matchmakers, and when Bre’kean arrived, we were both strongly encouraged to speak. We had small conversations, and then it was time for me to leave.

However, as you may know, when we make plans, God laughs because as I was trying to leave, my tire caught a flat, and Bre’Kean put on the spare and made sure I got home safely. Our story continued, and for a few weeks, we dated and had long conversations, and both realized that we wanted to be together. So, we made it official!

  • Morgan & Gray’s Wedding Registry

Gray and Morgan met on November 19, 2021, at an engagement party on Folly Beach. Gray attended the University of South Carolina with the future groom, and Morgan went to Clemson University with the future bride (thank you, Brunsons!).

Morgan briefly talked to Gray at the party, then a few days passed, and she decided to follow him on Instagram (she thought he was super cute, so why not?). He immediately reached out to her, and the rest is history.

Their first date was Downtown Charleston at Barsa on December 1, 2021. After dinner, the two grabbed espresso martinis at Vintage Lounge for dessert.

On December 24, 2023 (Christmas Eve!), Gray proposed at Morgan’s Nana and Papa’s house (her mom’s parents) in front of her family.

To give a glimpse of Gray’s heart, as they headed back to Morgan’s parents’ house that day, with tears in his eyes, Gray told her that he knew he wanted to propose in front of her family because ever since the first time he met them, they have always made him feel like family.

Morgan thanks God every day for bringing Gray into her life. He is proof that God always gives us His very best, and she couldn’t be more grateful that she gets to love him forever.

  • Katie & Ryan’s Wedding Registry

We first met in the most magical place on earth--Bumble, where the woman is forced to make the first move. As Katie continued to make the big moves, Ryan stayed along for the ride as he always does. From our first date at Cityside in Brighton, we both knew that our bond over dogs, 90s music, good food, and the Great British Bake off could lead to something more than just a first date. After that, we were inseparable and there was never a question about spending the rest of our lives together. We’ve raised a dog, grieved together, traveled across the world, fallen in love, and moved in together, but we are most excited to get married and spend the rest of our lives together.

  • Darya & Jesse’s Wedding Registry

Darya and Jesse met in the summer of 2016. Jesse was having a BBQ at his house in Felton and Darya stopped by with a mutual friend.

They started talking and connected over their shared love of art and music. As fate would have it, not only did they live close to one another, but they worked just one block apart in downtown Santa Cruz

Darya often went to New Leaf Market, where Jesse worked, on her lunch break. They’d wave to each other in the check out line and it wasn’t long before they took their friendship to the next level. Their first date was at Monty’s Log Cabin, a favorite local dive bar in the redwoods

As their relationship grew they moved into their first apartment together, traveled to new places, and adopted their first puppy named Scout.

Some of their favorite travel memories together have been riding bikes through tulip fields in Amsterdam, and traveling by camper van to hike the red rocks of Sedona, Arizona.

Jesse received his masters degree from CSUMB and started his teaching career at Watsonville Highschool while Darya started medical assisting at the Capitola Health Center, and found her passion in creating stained glass art

On their 6 year anniversary, they took a ride up the coast on Jesse’s motorcycle and had a picnic overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Jesse got down on one knee and proposed to Darya at sunset. She, of course, said "YES!"
