Cassie and Blaise met at Colorado State University. He was the mascot (Cam the Ram), and she was on the cheerleading team. They spent a lot of time together on the sidelines, and they were friends long before we started dating. It wasn’t until Blaise taught Cassie how to dance at a country bar (so many talents!), that she really started to fall for him.
Give us the details! When? Where? How?
It was a total surprise. We had talked about it, but I didn’t think it was coming any time soon.
We’re a team, we’ve found the person we want to walk through life with—and that’s what we’re really joyful about.
The day after Thanksgiving we went Christmas tree hunting with his family. It’s his favorite family tradition and I was the first person outside of the family to ever be invited. After cutting down a tree they always take family pictures in the meadow, so the cameras didn’t give away the surprise. It was the third year I had gone and it was the first time that there was snow, which made it that much more magical.
What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
Finding the perfect Colorado mountain venue that totally fits our personalities and popping the question to our wedding party. It has been so much sharing the experience with all of our closest friends and family members.
How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
We took an extra long engagement. So if we start to get too overwhelmed, we just take a week off. I’ll let you know how that works out when we start getting closer to our date!

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?
Our favorite part so far has been having our wedding party write their own bios. It took a little convincing and a lot of reminders, but they all put a lot of thought into it and they turned out great. A few of them even made me cry!
What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?
Fill out all the sections and choose photos that are cohesive with your wedding theme. We are having a more formal wedding, but we really liked using the website copy to be a little more playful and show our personalities.

It’s easy to get caught up in having the perfect wedding, but at the end of the day it’s all about your marriage. We’re a team, we’ve found the person we want to walk through life with—and that’s what we’re really joyful about.
