Joy Proposal Story: Patrice & Timothy

by Kelsey Vickers

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

In the stairwell of the apartment, I lived in when we started dating. He took me to a romantic dinner and afterward as we were driving, he told me not to worry about where we were going next, so I didn’t. (He knows his way around this town, remember?) When we arrived at my old complex I was bewildered, I haven’t lived there for several years. He said he knew, but we had made a lot of memories there and he just wanted to go back and look around. The stairwell is the place we spent the first few months of our time together, from our first kiss to the first time we said I love you. We stood in the stairwell, talking about old times and he mentioned that we had made a lot of memories there. He then said that it made him think about my grandmother’s legacy (It would have been her 82nd birthday) and that he wanted to be part of that forever. I said, “Ok, what does that mean?”

He dropped to his knee and my mouth stopped working. I’m fairly certain he had to ask me to marry him more than once for me to process what was happening! I said yes and I’ve been giggling ever since!

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

A lot of prayers, exercise, and playing with our dogs. Sometimes we plan days where we step away from the planning so we can just breathe a bit.
