Joy Proposal Story: Susan & Brenton

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

Susan’s favorite movie is Beauty and the Beast. For her 26th birthday, Brenton bought her the movie and let her watch it as much as she wanted. All the while, he was memorizing the music and dance moves to the iconic dance scene with Belle and the Beast. Susan thought that they were going to visit Pittsburgh (where they met, and where her family is from) for her 27th birthday. Little did she know, Brenton rented a private hall at their hotel and told her to meet him for dinner. When she walked into the room, the music from the dance scene started playing and Brenton was there to meet her in the same suit that the Beast wore. They danced to the song, and at the end, Brenton led her to a table with a rose in a glass case. He lifted the case and the engagement ring was inside. He had a videographer and photographer capture the moment! Definitely a fairytale!

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Our favorite experience has been having everything fall together!

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

We try to remind ourselves not to sweat the small stuff. The details that we think are so very important, will realistically not make or break the day.

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

Joy makes everything so easy! I tried to use another website to see how it would look, but I ended up coming back to Joy. It’s so intuitive and very easy to maneuver.

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Make sure to include every detail of your day on the website! It is such a great resource for friends and family. The wedding day will be nicer for them, overall, if they’re not sweating the small details.

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

Your wedding marks the first day of the rest of your lives together as husband and wife. The joy you feel during your wedding should be the same joy that you feel every day waking up next to your best friend and partner.
