Joy Proposal Story: Ashley & Raymond

by Kelsey Vickers

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

He had me completely set up. He asked two of our close friends to ask us to attend one of their “work” events. It was a supposed to be a Black Tie Event. So I did not think much of it. I went to work, went to the gym, then went home to get ready for the “event.” He told me that he would be running late so he would just meet me there. I headed to the W Hotel in Downtown Dallas and as soon as I walked into the lobby, I was greeted by one of the employees who told me to follow her.

I was so confused how she knew my name, and then it hit me. I knew Raymond was up to something. As I see her click the 33rd button in the elevator, I started to freak out inside. Could this be the day? The elevator door finally opens and all I see are beautiful colored rose petals, lined with tall beautiful candles… and Raymond, dressed in a black suite standing there with the city skyline lit up behind him.

There was a photographer taking pictures—and even a videographer! I walked up to him and he had an entire poem written for me. I was shaking. It all seemed like a dream. I was trying really hard to focus on what he was saying. Then, he got on one knee and asked if I would be his best friend for life. Of course I said, “Yes!”

He turned me around…to see 45 of my closest friends and family. Everyone was in tears. I could not believe that he organized everyone coming out for this special moment. Overwhelmed by it all, I could not believe he planned all that. But it still was not over. He pulled me off to the side to talk and goes, “I talked to your boss already babe, you have the week off and we are going to Florida in a couple days for vacation! And tonight, I rented a huge house for us all to celebrate in.” I am still in shock. It was better than anything I could ever have imagined.
