Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?
I proposed to Alice at a small outdoor cafe at Placa de Catalunya, in the heart of Barcelona, Spain. Even though I suspected she would say yes, it was still nerve-racking asking Alice for my hand. Holy cow, it takes courage to propose!
What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
Everything! We’re putting together an epic three-day wedding cruise from Vancouver to LA and 100 of our favorite people in the world will join us. It’s the party of our lifetime and we’re so excited!
How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
Plan early. I’ve been on this since March of 2017. With enough time to plan every detail, stress isn’t much of a factor.
What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?
Joy is fun, easy, and the end result looks fantastic! My family and friends think I’m a web-design genius because of Joy. I let them think that!
What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?
Plan early so you’re not rushing or feeling stressed and take your time- build as you go. It’s like playing violin. You can’t play Mozart the first weekend in, but a few weeks or months into it, your Mozart will start to sound pretty good.
At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?
Life is short and plays out very quickly, you might as well live life with joy. Appreciate your family and friends every day because joy is free for the taking. It’s far better than those unhelpful, negative emotions that love to sneak up on us to derail our forward momentum. Sustained happiness takes awareness and constant work, but the payoff is a grounded sense of being and meaning that elevates life to the privilege and gift that life actually is.
