Joy Proposal Story: Jena & Dave

by Cali Pitchel

How did the two of you meet?

A mutual friend asked us both to sub in a volleyball league on the same night in Milwaukee. We hit it off and about a week later, he texted me to see if I wanted to play in another volleyball league on the Marquette campus and I said yes. The rest is history.

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

He proposed the Saturday after this past Thanksgiving. We were at my parents house who live on farm land. There’s barns in the field right behind our house and Dave said he wanted to go back and see some of the barns. There’s history with these barnsand my brother and dad like to make a lot of neat things with the barn wood. So we ventured out there on a beautiful afternoon as I told him stories about times we would come out to the barns.

I’m so thrilled and lucky to spend forever with my fiance.

We came up to a neat barn and Dave eventually uttered the words,”Well, it’s about that time.” He got down on one knee and asked if I’d marry him. After crying for a while, we went back to tell my parents. They had no idea it was happening! Super special.

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Planning it with my mom and fiance’s mom. They have been so supportive and fun to work with. Everything seems to easy right now (knock on wood). It’s a fun time and a time that should be remembered instead of dreaded.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

I’m lucky to have the support of my family and my fiance continues to remind me that whatever I want is what he wants.

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Make sure to use all the features. This helps family and friends get to know you better and also allows others to meet each other and how they know the bride and groom.

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

Marriage constitutes happiness and joy with each other. Even though I’m really excited for the wedding, I’m so thrilled and lucky to spend forever with my fiance. I can’t wait to enjoy our lives together.
