Joy Proposal Story: Maggie & Max

by Kelsey Vickers

How did the two of you meet?

We met on Tinder!

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

Our first date was at a local German restaurant, Gerst Haus, outside on their patio. The brick building is covered with beautiful ivy and they have lights strung up around the seating area. It’s the perfect place for a first date, and perfect place for an engagement! Around our two-year anniversary, Max arranged what I thought was a low-key meal with friends at Gerst. What I didn’t know was that he had been secretly planning our engagement and had coordinated a huge surprise with the restaurant and 50 of our closest friends and family. We walked out the patio doors and I was shocked to see so many of our loved ones standing there. I turned to Max and he was down on one knee. He asked me to marry him and I said yes. It was perfect!

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Booking our reception venue, the Ballroom at Sauced. We were struggling trying to find the perfect venue, but when we walked in and saw the beautiful exposed brick, fireplaces, chandeliers, and muted colors, we knew this was the place we wanted to celebrate our marriage!

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

We try to communicate and keep an open mind. We are both quick to overreact and get upset about things, but we try to reflect on what’s upsetting us and talk about it.

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?
