Joy Proposal Story: Megan & Steve

by Kelsey Vickers

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

Steve asked me to go out for a date night after work on Friday. He said, “Let’s enjoy the warm weather before it’s gone and have a glass of wine at the park before dinner”. He ended up getting off work early (or so I thought) and told me he would just meet me at the park since it was out of the way to go back to our apartment beforehand. When I arrived he had a blanket, two glasses, and a bottle of wine sitting there waiting. I sat down and he pretended to look for a corkscrew opener in the bag he brought everything in. He then laughed and said, “Looks like I forgot the bottle opener, I guess we should just head to the restaurant”. I laughed, helped him pack up the bag and then said I would go grab a cab for us. I started to put my hand out when I heard him behind me say, “Wait, Megan…” and when I turned back around he was down on one knee with a ring box in his hand. He opened the box and confetti flew out to reveal the ring underneath. He said a few words I can’t remember and then my best friend appeared from behind me with her camera as she snapped photos of the whole thing. We kissed, cried, laughed, hugged and felt every emotion before jumping in a cab and heading to dinner. Steve said he made a reservation at a new place his co-worker recommended. When we arrived I walked into 30 of our closest friends and family that had traveled from all over the country to come celebrate with us. It was the most amazing feeling and a night I will never forget!

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

All of it! Every vendor we meet has been a fun and exciting experience. If I had to pick one, it would be meeting with our band and going over our first dance song. It makes me tear up thinking of that moment and how excited I am for it!

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

Google sheets and to-do lists are key! Also, splitting tasks. I put Steve on honeymoon, and transportation, and hotel duty. He did a great job!

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

It’s so easy to use and completely customizable, unlike any other sites I have seen.

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Go to each and every tab, page, and question. I found the tidbits sections fun and different than anything else I have seen. It’s a great way to show our personalities!

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

Marriage is saying “I do” and “I will” for an eternity of happiness and joy with the one you love.
