Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?
I proposed to Jenevieve on the weekend of Thanksgiving. We purchased our Christmas tree the day before (we are both huge fans of Christmas) and Jenevieve was very excited as this was our first 12-foot tall tree! I purchased the ring back in August but was waiting for the right time- I was also really nervous and kept psyching myself out. It wasn’t until I saw her excitement of the tree when I realized this was the right time to propose. The next day, I woke up early to add some wiring to the ring box and hung the ring like a Christmas ornament. We didn’t decorate the tree yet, so the ring was the only “ornament” hanging up. I then played the waiting game, anticipating for Jenevieve to wake up. She woke up at 10am- she loves her sleep. After lounging around in bed for another couple minutes, she decided to take a shower. The wait was killing me! When I least expected, she made a b-line to the tree and I briskly walked right behind her. She saw the box and was quizzical about what it was. She repeatedly asked,”What is that?” The moment I opened the box, she realized this was the real deal. It was a nerve-racking moment but there was a huge sense of relief and happiness the moment she said, “Yes!”
What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
Jenevieve: “It’s been great planning the wedding together. We are taking care of the wedding, so all planning and coordinating have been between the two of us. It has been an amazing experience.”
How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
Jenevieve is very Type A and because of this, she loves to plan ahead and is very organized. The planning has been incredibly easy!
What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?
We love the app feature of Joy. We also love the website layout.
What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?
Dedicate a day to create your website. It went by a lot quicker when we worked on it together.
At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?
Jenevieve is my joy. I love that I will be with her for the rest of my life. I’m not typically a person who plans ahead but thinking about our future together is something I’m very excited about!
