Vendor Spotlight: Vector Visuals

by Kelsey Vickers

Videographers Colter and Zane share their passion for shooting weddings in Bozeman, MT.

How did you get into videography?

We both got into video work by making funny skit videos with our friends growing up.

Are you self-taught or formally trained?

We both attended Montana State University Film School.

Describe your style in one sentence.

For weddings, our style is very documentary-style.

What’s been your favorite experience as a videographer?

Meeting and working with a variety of different and interesting people.

What do you love most about shooting weddings?

It’s great to capture all the special moments people have on their wedding day. Everyone is so happy and it’s great to film that, knowing you’re capturing a great memory for them to
look back on for years to come.

Why do you shoot weddings in particular?

Weddings in Montana are a big summer event. So, it’s a great opportunity to work outside and enjoy the nice weather while we have it!

Where is the most interesting or unique place you’ve shot a wedding?

Bozeman is kind of a spoiled venue location to film at because there are amazing scenic
views in almost every direction! It’s hard to find a more beautiful location to film a wedding than Montana.

Do you have a favorite, must-capture moment for every wedding?

It’s always great to capture the first dance, it’s such a great moment for the bridal party!

As a videographer, what has been your biggest wedding day challenge?

Our biggest challenge is always making sure we are capturing the best moments during
the day. Once the reception starts, there’s a lot happening so always have to be aware of what’s happening now and five minutes down the road.

What piece of advice would you give brides and grooms to ensure that they get a wedding video they love forever? (This can include tips about preparation, choosing a videographer, or anything else.)

The advice we’d give to the bride and groom would be doing your homework as far as what you’d like to have filmed on your big day. There’s a lot happening so if there’s a specific moment that you want captured, it’s great to express that to your video crew in the beginning so they can prep for that and capture the right moments.

What are your favorite wedding trends to shoot right now?

The entrance of the bridal party is always fun to shoot, whether people enter dancing or some other way, it’s always an exciting moment in the reception where people are laughing and enjoying the moment.

How do you think an app like Joy can help make weddings better?

Every wedding has so many moving parts in order to make it all happen and run smoothly, the Joy app is great because it keeps everything in one place so you don’t have to file through your email inbox just to keep everything organized.

If you weren’t a videographer, what would you be doing?

We’d probably still be making movies in one way or another!

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

Wedding days are a special day spent celebrating with your family and friends, there’s a lot of love and laughter in that day. It’s great we get the opportunity to help couples capture that wonderful time to view and cherish for the rest of the lives.
