Joy Proposal Story: Anna & Brenden

Joy Proposal Story: Anna & Brenden

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

I’ve always joked that 9-11am is my best time of the day, so it’s no surprise that Brenden planned to propose to me at 10am on a Saturday morning. The problem with telling me I was hanging out with my mom, was that I was 45 minutes late to the house that she was supposed to be staying at for the weekend. When I arrived, I was sent on an elaborate scavenger hunt around the property, similar to the one I sent Brenden on when we celebrated our dating anniversary the year before. The clues ended at the top of the hill behind the house where I found Brenden standing next to a large wooden cross holding a black ring box. It had a post it note on it which was the same one he found on of his anniversary clues in our favorite coffee shop. I can’t remember everything he said, it was mostly a blur, but at some point he said, “Will you marry me?” and I said, “Yes, yes, yes!” then hugged his head while he was still on one knee (because smooth is my middle name). We went and found my mom who had been hiding out in the house and got to spend the rest of the day together before the engagement party he had planned for that night.

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

The tasting was probably our favorite part. The only hard thing being that there were too many good options! Let’s just say the food at our wedding ain’t no corn dogs and pop-tarts (although now that I think of it, that’s brilliant).

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

I have to keep reminding myself that while everything is fun and pretty, at the end of the day Brenden and I will be married and that’s all that matters. I would hate to look back on this season and remember it as the time I lost my sh*%!

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

I love that Joy is unique and different from what all of our friends are using. Plus, who doesn’t love a little Joy!

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Spend some time going through all of the features and make it your own!

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

Jesus is the center of our relationship. Our Joy that comes from the Lord doesn’t end on September 29, but will increase with every day that we’re married.
