Joy Proposal Story: Jenna & Andrew

Joy Proposal Story: Jenna & Andrew

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

We became engaged on October 1st in Philadelphia at a Leon Bridges concert. Leon Bridges has been a staple for us since we began dating and we always talked about how his song ¨Coming Home¨ being our wedding song. I knew Andrew was going to propose because I picked out the ring with him. To be honest, we knew we were going to be married within six months of dating each other. Once at a party, Andrew jokingly proposed with some rose gold wire that he magically twisted into a beautiful makeshift ring, which I still have. But ever since I picked out the “real deal” ring, I was totally obnoxious about awaiting the proposal. I kept bringing it up and joking about when it will happen. So when we went to Philly, it was no different. At this point, it became so much of a joke that I didn´t actually believe it was going to happen that night!

We got front row at the concert. Andrew seemed so calm, he literally napped before the show. When Coming Home came on, he told me to look down, and there he was holding the ring. Now shaking (mostly afraid to drop it), he asked, ¨Baby, will you marry me?!¨ It was sweet because we were in a huge crowd of people and I don´t think anyone noticed but us. It was our own private moment. Afterward, we celebrated with some Cheesesteak.

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Feeling so incredibly loved and supported by family and friends.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

It hasn’t been that crazy just yet. I’m sure as it gets closer and crunch time approaches, going insane may not be so avoidable. But, we have seriously such a tight bridal crew who has our back!

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

We love that guests can RSVP right on the site! People slack with mail.

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Start your website as early as possible and take your time to build it up so you can spend time using all of the features offered. Joy is so awesome! Before my friend convinced me, I wasn’t originally going to have a wedding website. After doing my research, I loved the customization and features of Joy best!

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

A day that we’ll try to soak up every minute of. We think our wedding is going to be epic simply because of all of the joy we have in our hearts and love that is shared with our friends and family. To us, Joy is the journey. It’s feeling everything with radical acceptance. It’s remembering what’s important even when life feels like a s**t storm. We’re overjoyed to be sharing our life together!
