Joy Proposal Story: Jennifer & Eric

by Kelsey Vickers

How did the two of you meet?

We met at a college party at the University of Iowa!

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

Eric proposed during a backpacking trip in the Big Bend Ranch State Park in Texas. Eric had been secretly planning to propose during our 22 mile, 3-day hike through the Chihuahua Desert. The hike was much harder than we had planned and Jen had a meltdown because she was mentally and physically drained. Once we got to a resting spot (that was gorgeous) Eric knelt down and asked Jen to marry him. Jen was 100% surprised that Eric planned an (almost) seamless proposal!

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Seeing our friends and families excitement to help out when we ask them to be a part of our wedding.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

Being a year out, we’re still not feeling much pressure. We also both love planning things so we will embrace some of the stress!

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

It’s very visually appealing.

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Make sure to use the “+” feature if you want to add specific information and make the website more personal.

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

Since we have been together so long, the wedding is more of a formality and a way to celebrate our relationship with all of our close family and friends. We know that our relationship is forever and the wedding will be amazing but it’s not the be-all, end-all!
