Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?
There we were, ice skating in Downtown Lexington, Kentucky. Our family and friends waited patiently for my signal at a lounge located across the street. I positioned her at the far end of the rink, giving her the most distance between us and our impending guests. I instructed her to record me on her phone as I went around the space a few times by myself. The center of the skating rink was wide open and I went for it. I dropped butt-first on the cold ice and motioned for her to help me up. She obliges and as she tries to pull me up, I pull out the engagement ring that had been burning a hole in my pocket for the last few hours. In the midst of crying, she gave me the magical, “YES”, and we kissed to commemorate the moment.

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
The idea of having our favorite people in the world in the same place at the same time has to be our favorite experience. People will be traveling great distances to see us tie the knot!
How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
Knowing that I’m taking on this huge venture side-by-side with my best friend makes the entire process that much easier.

Our favorite part has to be the functionality of the website. There is an ease to navigating it that should translate over to our guests as well.
What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?
Make sure you’re thoughtful when filling out each section. The more work that you put in before showcasing it to family and friends will alleviate headaches on the back end!

We all want our wedding day to be perfect, but that’s not how it always plays out. Regardless of any hiccups or potential headaches, the true, lasting joy, is knowing that I’m marrying my favorite person in this world.
