How did the two of you meet?

We were in Venice, Italy for a long weekend celebrating Brett’s 34th birthday. He said his only birthday request was to take a sunrise ferry to Burano. (We are not morning people). That morning at 6 AM, we set out like zombies without coffee to the ferry, or so I thought. As we were walking across a quaint bridge, there was a photographer set up taking photos. She gave us her card and introduced herself, saying that she was working on a photography project of lovers in Italy and asked if she could take our picture. That’s when Brett started rambling weird things about how “this isn’t just a bridge” and referenced the Brooklyn Bridge we walked on during our second date, and the bridge we celebrated NYE in Amsterdam on, and that’s when he dropped down on one knee and proposed! It was 6:45 AM as the sun had just rose, and he planned the photographer to capture it all!

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?
We didn’t think of a lot of pertinent info to include on our own, so having the suggested template and guidelines from Joy was very helpful! Follow them, it helps take out a lot of the stress and research.

The wedding planning is fun but marriage is why we’re doing it all. Marriage represents a commitment to a lifetime of countless journeys we will take together. We understand that not every journey will be easy or fun, that’s the joy and beauty in it all. We are choosing to do it together, as a unit.
