Joy Proposal Story: Savannah & Tim

Joy Proposal Story: Savannah & Tim

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

Tim took me on a date to celebrate Christmas early, before knocking off one of the items on our bucket list. We’ve always been long distance so we try and make every trip together count for something extra special. He mentioned that there was a lighthouse not far away and that it was one of the items on the list. It sounded perfect, so we made plans to go. We arrived at the Tybee Island Lighthouse in Savannah, GA and he ran up the stairs the whole way, dragging me along. I barely got him to slow down enough to take a quick picture on the way up. We got to the top and he circled the whole thing twice scanning and not saying much. When I finally got him to slow down and tried to hug him, he grabbed my arms and said, “I’m going to need you to back up.”  He then got down on one knee, pulled out the ring of my dreams, and asked me to be his wife. He then surprised me with a photographer (his sister) at the bottom, she captured the whole thing! We drove back to his parent’s house. Once we arrived, I noticed my whole family. They had driven up from Florida to surprise us with an engagement party. It’s been a dream and I can’t wait to marry him!

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

My favorite part was picking out the dress with my mom, baby sister (Maid of Honor), and my future mother-in-law. It was the first one I tried on, we cried, and it all finally felt real.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

A whole lot of prayer and a weekly date with my fiancé where we don’t talk about the wedding. We talk about us and things that make us laugh. We flirt and make sure that we keep our focus on building “us” as a couple and not about planning the perfect party.

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

I love the wedding party and guest interactive features. It allows everyone to get involved with the wedding as it gets closer and closer!

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Start using Joy early in your wedding planning process. I feel like I could have had this set up a few weeks after we got engaged and it would have helped keep a lot of information organized and in one place!

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

A wedding is a celebration of love that is here today and gone tomorrow. Joy found in the one you love lasts far past when the lights and music fade. Joy is an emotion that you choose. Choose joy daily and you will realize just how much beauty you have in your life. It is a sustainable source of positive energy that God gives to His children and we may give to our fellow men.
