Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?
Derek asked me if I wanted to go on a date with him and I said yes, immediately getting a funny feeling in my stomach! When we were getting ready to leave I asked him, “Are you going to ask me to marry you?” He quickly replied, “No! I haven’t even asked your parents yet!” We finished getting ready and drove to Newport, KY to eat at Bar Louie, which also happened to be where we had our first date. After dinner, we went out to sit on a terrace overlooking Newport. He handed me an envelope and when I grabbed it, I could tell there were pieces of something small inside. I wasn’t sure what to expect. I opened the envelope to find puzzle pieces inside. I started putting the puzzle together and it was a picture of us with words at the bottom that read, “Will you marry me?” I looked over at him and he was down on one knee. I remember asking if it was for real and saying yes. I was so excited everything else feels like a blur!

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
Honestly, wedding planning has been so stressful! I haven’t had a favorite experience, yet.
How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
My mom and finance’s help and encouragement have kept me sane! Without them, I would have gone insane.

Using Joy for our wedding website has been a WONDERFUL experience! The website is so easy to use and I think it’s easy to navigate for guests. I had a question about some of the settings and messaged someone who works for Joy. They answered my question so quickly!
What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?
Give your guests all the information you can. I think this will lessen the phone calls and text messages you’ll receive with questions! With Joy, giving guests information isn’t hard. Just follow their prompts, they make it easy!
