Joy Proposal Story: Alexa & Nolan

Joy Proposal Story: Alexa & Nolan

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

We decided to run some errands and then grab lunch in the park. It was uncharacteristically hot that day, so we decided to grab lunch first to cool down and then go for a walk, but needed to run back to his apartment to grab a frisbee. I sat on the couch waiting for him while he “searched for a frisbee.” I watched as he paced from room to room, chugging at least three glasses of water before he emerged from his room with a deck of cards. He sat next to me on the couch and asked me if I wanted to see a card trick as he began to lay out cards telling the story of how we met. At last, he laid down a Queen of Hearts, King of Hearts, and Ace of Hearts, going on to explain how the Queen had stolen the King’s heart and in return, he had to give her something special. He placed the Ace of Hearts on the top of the deck and instantly changed it into an Ace of Diamonds. He got down on one knee with a ring in his hand. I was in complete and utter shock and had no idea the proposal was coming! I said, “Yes!” about 10 times and could not believe the day I had been waiting for, was finally here!

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

My favorite experience planning the wedding is hearing about how other family members met, got engaged, and all the ups and downs of their own wedding. I have been touched immensely by the number of family members and friends who have reached out to tell us how happy and excited they are for our happiness. We are getting married at the same venue as my parents and I have been extremely excited to plan everything with my mom and share such a special place with not only my fiance but also my parents.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

Wedding stress has not hit me yet but I think that is mainly because of the support of our families. They have been amazing and respectful of all our decisions. We have approached the planning process one step at a time and truly enjoyed involving everyone in our plans. At the end of the day, it is just a day, and we are looking forward to the life we will have together after the celebration has ended.

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Take it one page at a time and don’t get too overwhelmed. Remember, the tools are supposed to help make your day easier and if you have any issues, the chat box is a life saver!

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

We’ve been extremely excited to celebrate our love in front of all our family and friends but we are looking forward to our lives together after the party is over! We have so many great examples of love in our lives! We want to be another positive example to our friends and family.
