Alisha and Kevin met at a party over six years ago, they planned their wedding in three months, and they have one beautiful daughter. That adds up to a whole lot of love. Read on to hear about the sweet holiday proposal and how Alisha and Kevin keep joy at the center of their lives.
Give us the details! When? Where? How?
Kevin told me he wanted to start a new tradition of opening a Christmas gift on Christmas Eve. At the time, our daughter was 11 months old and I was too tired to think much of it. At midnight we exchanged one Christmas gift. He insisted on opening his first, and quickly thanked me for his jeans. He handed me a shoe box sized gift that I was sure was a pair of sneakers. I opened the box to find a smaller wrapped box inside. Two boxes later, I opened a jewelry box with a ring. When I looked up he was down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I excitedly said “yes!”
We believe in having joy every day of our lives.
What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?
My favorite part of this experience is working with Kevin. We are an amazing team, and balance each other out perfectly.
How to do stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?
Kevin and I planned our wedding in less than three months. We made clear the things that were most important, and didn’t “overthink” the rest. We’ve had lots of help from our family and friends that have made the process less stressful.
At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?
I absolutely believe the same. Kevin and I have waited to have our wedding day for 2 years to share this time with our family and friends, but we’re honestly ready for the next part of our journey as husband and wife, and as parents to our beautiful daughter. We believe in having joy every day of our lives.
