Joy Proposal Story: Amanda & Jake

by Cali Pitchel

How did the two of you meet?

In college, at the University of La Verne. We both played basketball for ULV, but we officially met in a math class our Freshman year.

How long have you been together?

We have been together for almost 6 years!

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

Jake proposed on November 11th, 2016 at the top of Mammoth Mountain. He secretly hired a photographer and event planner through Mammoth Mountain to help plan the whole thing! “When I turned to put my hand on his shoulder, there he was on one knee with the ring. He asked, ‘Will you marry me?’ and I instantly started crying because it was a total (happy) surprise.” -Amanda

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Amanda’s favorite experience, so far, has been picking out beautiful and personal details/touches and expressing her creativity for the big day. Jake’s has been going to the venue and seeing how beautiful it is there. Amanda agrees that was so awesome too!

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

We do it in chunks and stick to a general timeline. I (Amanda) want to get as much planning out of the way early so we aren’t stressed as it gets closer, but Jake helps to keep me calm and level headed so I do not tire or stress myself out in the process!

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

The friendly ease of everything and how different the layout is from other websites!

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

We would say to play around with it. There are so many great features and ways to share information about yourselves and your wedding, through Joy.

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

Joy lasting forever is exactly how we feel about each other. We want an amazing wedding day, but we know we want an even more amazing, long life together.
