Joy Proposal Story: Bonnie & Vincent

by Cali Pitchel

How did the two of you meet?

We met at the Scholar’s Day for incoming freshmen at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. Bonnie cracked a joke that made everyone but me (Vincent) laugh. We ended up finding out we were going ton be in band together and exchanged contact info and the rest is history.

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

Well, it actually happened at our college’s homecoming our senior year. I (Vincent) had gotten the marching band in on it, and was able to have the drum major write an arrangement of “I Won’t Give Up” by Jason Mraz, which is our song, for the band to play. I talked to her best friend and made sure she was at the game and had her help get Bonnie down to the field to watch the halftime show.

It means being able to wake up next to the one you love every day. Knowing that there will be good an bad days, but that you love the other person, and that they love you, so your lives will honestly be filled with joy and happiness, no matter what is thrown your way.

Right after we ended the halftime show, the marching band formed an arch around me on the field and Bonnie was called onto the field, where I proposed in front of our friends, family, and strangers while the band played our song.

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Honestly, probably taking the engagement photos and getting everything together such as invites and the wedding website.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

Wait, you’re supposed to stay sane? Really, we jut take it a day at a time. We both are teachers now and are usually busy during the week, so we use the weekends to get a lot done and unwind from any stress we have.

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

I really like how elegant is it, but also how simple it is to use. I am very good with technology, but it was refreshing to find a site that makes it easy to do stuff.

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Look at everything. Every page, every little addition you can use. You may not use everything they have to offer, but it’s always good to know what all is at your disposal, which is a lot with Joy.

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

It means being able to wake up next to the one you love every day. Knowing that there will be good an bad days, but that you love the other person, and that they love you, so your lives will honestly be filled with joy and happiness, no matter what is thrown your way.
