Joy Proposal Story: Brad & Jessy

How did the two of you meet?

The first time we met, we were both having a little too much fun at the “baseball house”. I remember glancing over at him as his friends chanting, “Ham, Ham, Ham”. I was thinking to myself, “Wow, he’s cute but he must be a Freshman”. As the night came to an end, I waddled my way back to the dorms and thought about Ham Porter. After one too many times of creeping his MySpace, a mutual friend agreed to introduce us. I learned a lot about Ham. For starters, his real name was Brad and he was Sophomore, not a Freshman. I guess Burnett’s will do that to you. Since the moment we were introduced, everything seemed to click. Not much has changed, besides the fact that we now reminisce about our crazy USF college days and our free time is now spent doing adult things like wedding planning and house hunting. We are excited about our next big adventure together as newlyweds!

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

We went skiing for a weekend in Wisconsin with another couple (my best friend and her boyfriend, who Brad and I are very close with). Brad’s initial plan was for both our family and friends to drive up to the ski resort and surprise me at the bottom of the hill, where he would propose. However, I struggled to make it down the bunny hill. After a few hours of practice, I was finally able to go down one of the taller hills, which allowed everybody to sneak into position. It ended up going exactly as planned! After the proposal, we drove home and planned to go out and celebrate. Brad took me to a bar in our college town. Upon showing up, I was surprised yet again by all our closet family members and friends. There was a lot of love, happiness, and tequila shared that night!

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

My favorite experience of wedding planning is watching everything come together. From the bridesmaids dresses, to the decor and DJ. I am so excited for our big day!

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

Work out, long walks with my dog Bella, and chat with Brad.

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

I love the layout and design of Joy. It is completely customizable, modern, and clean. This was something I was looking for in a website but could not find from other competing wedding websites!

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Take time to explore the site and review all of the features.

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

Knowing that I am spending forever with Brad, brings joy.
