Joy Proposal Story: Brittany & Steven

by Cali Pitchel

How did the two of you meet?

We met while on vacation in Siesta Key, Florida. We were both out with friends and Steve offered to buy us a round of drinks. We hit it off and ended up hanging out for the rest of the week while on vacay!

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

Steve rented a cabin in Woodstock, NY for the weekend. He played it off as if this was a belated Christmas gift, so I wasn’t too suspicious when he planned this weekend getaway. After hanging out all day at the cabin and in the hot tub, he suggested we go out for drinks. We went to this adorable local bar for some cocktails and to listen to live music.

About an hour into the evening, he said he would “be right back”—I just assumed he was using the restroom or getting more drinks. He came back into the bar with a dozen white roses (it’s a tradition that every anniversary he buys me 1 dozen red roses and 1 white rose for every year we’ve been together). When I saw all white roses, I immediately started tearing up! He took my hand, and the musician (Liana Gabel, she’s amazing!) started to sing the acoustic version of “Latch” by Sam Smith.

Although a wedding is just one day, it’s a celebration of your past together and the future ahead.

This is the song I told him I wanted to walk down the isle to if we were to ever get married. Once she started singing, he had a slide show of our pictures projected on the ceiling and told me he wanted to have adventures with me for the rest of his life. And that’s when he got on his knee and popped the question!
