Joy Proposal Story: Cassandra & Greg

Joy Proposal Story: Cassandra & Greg

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

Greg had planned an engagement party for July 21, 2018, which was meant to be a surprise to me. He was going to propose that morning, then head over to the party which was being held at the restaurant where we had our first date. Come July 4th, Greg had been sitting on the ring for a month already and is terrible at keeping secrets. He decided when he woke up that morning, “today is the day” and then almost had a panic attack! He asked me to take our dog Cookie for a walk with him, which was a little out of the ordinary, but I didn’t pick up on anything. After walking the dog Greg proposed on a bench that sits on the Hudson River overlooking the New York City skyline, which we can see from the dinner table in our apartment. So, for the rest of our time living there, every time we look out our window, it’s a reminder of our love and commitment to one another.

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

So far, taking our engagement photos (they also included our dog!) on the beach where Greg grew up. It was very special to both of us and something we will remember for the rest of our lives. Also, the cake tasting was pretty delicious!

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

Greg has honestly been so amazing and supportive throughout this whole process. He keeps me level-headed and always knows the right things to say when he can tell I’m stressed (even before I say anything).

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

Greg and I have had a lot of curve balls thrown our way but one thing has always been constant, our love and respect for one another. Being with Greg makes me feel like I can conquer anything. That’s what joy means to me!
