Joy Proposal story: Courtney & Andy

Joy Proposal story: Courtney & Andy

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

We were planning on going to my family lake house in Ohio the weekend of April 6, 2018. I was slightly suspicious that he may propose there, but Andy lied to a mutual friend earlier that week saying the ring wasn’t in yet. Of course, she told me so I wouldn’t be disappointed at the end of the weekend. I really didn’t think it was happening, and I was kind of upset. We got to the lake, and we were bickering because I wanted to just have leftovers for dinner that night and he wanted to make a nice dinner. We ended up just having leftovers and some wine because we forgot several ingredients for the recipe we wanted to make. After eating and talking at the table for a while, Andy suggested we moved to the living room area. I moved and started telling a story about a sorority sister. Andy eventually came over with a bottle of wine I don’t remember packing, and I questioned why he bought a different bottle when we had an entire box of wine.

He said it was something special for tonight. I ignored this and continued to tell the story about my friend. Andy poured the wine and stood there with the glasses, and I eventually questioned him again why he bought a bottle of wine. He responded with, “I wanted something special for tonight… I also want to do something else special tonight….” Next thing I knew, he was pulling a box out of his pocket, getting down on one knee, and said, “Courtney Rose… will you marry me?” And this is when I started freaking out, crying and knocked the ring box out of his hand while trying to kiss him and say, “Yes!” (Don’t worry, the ring was safe!) I was so surprised, and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. He wanted to originally propose on the dock by the water, but it was freezing and raining, so he had to improvise. I was completely surprised by the ring because he picked it out completely on his own!

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

So far, it’s been fun getting to pick colors and just collecting ideas in general. We recently got our engagement pictures back, so it’s been fun getting those done and now getting to design save the dates.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

Date nights help a lot right now and spending quality time together. Since it’s still early, there isn’t a ton of pressure yet, but I know it’s just going to keep getting crazier as the big day gets closer!

I love that Joy mainly focuses on just wedding websites!

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

I’m still learning the ropes, so it’s hard to say! But couples definitely need to play around with everything to understand what all Joy has to offer and the features available to make your website look amazing!
