Joy Proposal Story: Daniel & Emily

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

Daniel planned an overnight trip to Tobermory, Ontario and the Bruce Peninsula National Park. Neither of us had been and it was a beautiful magical place. We explored the park, took a glass bottom boat over to Flowerpot Island in Tobermory, and then took a hike to a point where a large lighthouse stood. (I hadn’t realized Daniel had been carrying the ring with him the whole day!) The water was turquoise and the sky was a beautiful clear blue. Daniel got down on one knee and asked me to be his partner through life. I was so surprised and overjoyed! There was a large yacht that went by at that exact moment and the people cheered!

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

Getting to personalize everything! I love how this event can reflect who Daniel and I really are.

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

By realizing that I’m going to be marrying my best friend! I’m so excited about that. Also by taking everything in stride. Somethings will not be perfect and quite as you planned. As a perfectionist, this was incredibly hard for me at first. But don’t let little imperfections discourage you from the beauty of your wedding day.

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

I love how simple it is to use and right now… simplicity is what I need!

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Encourage your guests to browse and use the website. There are so many helpful tools on it and my guests loved the Tidbits section about us.

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

Joy is found in the little things in life and the people we spend it with. Though our wedding will be a beautiful time of celebration, I’m looking forward to the years we will spend encouraging one another, lifting each other up, and growing together.
