Joy Proposal Story: Diana & Ernesto

by Kelsey Vickers

How did the two of you meet?

We worked together and would occasionally wave as we passed each other, sometimes adding in a polite “hello”. We didn´t officially meet and talk until a year later but we were both in relationships at the time. Both relationships ended almost at the same time and three months later, we started talking. After work one day I give him a ride home, because of the traffic we were forced to talk for almost an hour. This was the first time we had a real conversation with each other and we started dating a month after that. We moved in together a year later and we’re now getting married almost two years later!

Give us the proposal details! When? Where? How?

Ernesto took me on a romantic trip to Tepoztlan, two weeks after Valentine´s Day. We had a spa weekend to relax and enjoy each other. One night, he prepared a special dinner on the terrace of our amazing room, including a personal chef and a waiter! We started talking about our love story and before I knew it he was on one knee crying, asking me to marry him.

What has been your favorite experience planning the wedding?

The excitement that all of our friends and family have for our wedding!

How do you stay sane under the pressures of wedding planning?

We meditate together and always keep in mind that it’s not about the wedding, it’s about making a life plan as a couple.

What is your favorite part of using Joy for your wedding?

We can put all of the information in one place, make it personal to us, and save money by not printing invitations!

What piece of advice would you give couples to ensure that they use Joy to its fullest potential?

Take time to fill things in together so it will have your personality. Also, include your guest list, it is super helpful!

At Joy we believe that even though a wedding lasts a day, joy lasts forever. What does that mean to you?

Always remember the good moments that you share together and hold onto those memories for when times get tough. The good moments will help make the joy in your relationship last forever.
